I will take this as an opportunity to remind everyone that the east campus parking ramp and lots at Forker are parking pass lots all hours all days.

Can't you pay to park in that small ramp? This use to be my go to lot but they would prefer it remain empty on a Saturday afternoon when parking is at a premium.

Does anyone know if Lot 61 (Towers parking lot by Cyclone Sports Complex) is available for parking?

I have parked there for 10 years on football game days with no issues.
But this year, that lot has been blocked off by ISU Parking Division -- what is the deal? Is that new this year or is it just because the grass lots have been closed so often?

The parking lady told me they were blocking it off because there aren't enough spots for the students to park -- but there were plenty of open spots..

I don't understand where I'm supposed to park. She suggested "try on campus" or side streets. I wouldn't mind paying to park there if I had to, I just like the spot because I don't get too caught up in the traffic right by the stadium.

As you probably know, when school is in session students park at JT. When game day comes, student have until midnight the Friday before to remove their cars from JT. When I was in college, they told us to park in the Tower's parking lot. My guess, this is why they are doing it. All lots were open the first couple games, and Towers was still blocked off. I think you may have to find another spot unfortunately.

I parked there twice this year with no issues, so either they haven't been ticketing or I got really lucky?

I have had to miss some games this year, so my only time trying to park at Towers so far was the Oklahoma game. I arrived around 20 minutes prior to kickoff and found 61A and 61B blocked off. After driving around side streets for about 10 minutes and not finding a spot, I ended up coming back and parked in an open spot 61G (small narrow lot west of the Tower building).

We started walking toward JTS, and (at this time almost kickoff time) we saw the ISU parking truck leaving 61A/B and removing the barricade. Walking through there were tons of available spots. The whole ordeal caused us to miss the first few minutes of the game.

My dad went to the Akron game and was there an hour or so before kickoff and he said 61A/B was blocked off then too.

I understand students need spots to move their cars, but I don't get the sudden change when I've been parking there for years with no issues (and plenty of extra parking spots).

I want what he is on. It would take a good week for things to dry out enough to drive on right now. Add on the fact that there will be continued rain in the coming days and there is not a chance those lots are open.

Like I said things dry out fast nice once the sun is out. You don't need it to be bone dry to drive cars on grass.

No way. 48 hours of good weather and they will be in better shape than you think.

Where is the water going to go? The lots are already saturated. I don't see it draining in 48 hours enough to get the university to open them. Remember, they closed G7 for the Akron game and portions of the other grass lots. We didn't have as much, or as many days of rain leading up to it and there were multiple days of warm dry weather.

I am with the others, the lots will be closed.

Once that ground is saturated there is literally nowhere for the soil to drain. There may not be standing water but the ground will be like a sponge.

People mad they don’t open lots

They open grass lot. People get stuck. People get mad at AD for opening lot. Want AD to pay for damage to vehicle because they buried their vehicle.

No win situation

I'm mad (annoyed probably more accurate) that I increased my donation and was still bumped out of the G6 lot I was in last year, and moved to the grass G7 lot, which has only been open 1 time this season.

I get it, there are worse things in the world than my tailgating lot being closed due to unforeseen weather patterns, but it still sucks. All in all, it will probably get me to up my donation level to assure I get into the paved lots next year.

Even if it was 100 degrees, sunny and 25 mph winds for 2 days straight, they won't be ready. We've had some amount of precipitation and little to no sun for damn near 2 weeks straight. Squaw Creek is FULL.

Last weed after the rain we were driving loader semis out of fields and on grass drives less than 48 hours after the rain stopped. We will be doing the same by this Sat if the forecast holds. For a car to drive on sod all you need is the top to be dry so the car doesn't spin.

I agree somewhat, and I am a guy who stays in G7 because I like the extra space for tailgating compared to paved lots. But, it's not a bad thing to move to VetMed when G7 is too wet.
