Hackberry Tree

Looking for some help from some arborists. Have a Hackberry tree that is 30 to 40 feet tall and has some "foam" coming out of the trunk. The leaves are of a lighter green color than they should be. Also have a Hackberry that is planted about 30 feet away and do not want it to become "infected" with the same problem. Have attached a picture of the problem and was wondering if there was any input on this.

It's a little known fact, but trees actually don't foam from rabies like animals do. They just look mean. The tree below has a nasty case of tree rabies.

Google searched FOAM + HACKBERRY, not sure if it is happening to your tree or just a coincidence. Are there holes up the tree where the inside of the tree is rotting out?

I saw that link and that is the direction that we are thinking… But I'm not seeing where it looks like the tree is rotting out???

This is normal, it's just a little phlegm from a summer cold. This is why they're called Hackberry.

Hort grad here. It's definitely a fungal growth of some sort, the only way you would have that type of fungus is if there is decaying wood in the tree somewhere, ie rot. I'd definitely have an arborist come out and look at it, my guess is it will need to be cut down before it rots so far it falls down. As far as it transferring to the other tree you have nothing to worry about unless the other tree is rotten/decaying as well.
