What’s the plans for the first day of retirement? Take a few naps and walk around the house in your underwear?
Still need to get Medicare set up. It took them 51 days to send me the paperwork so I got that Thursday and had to get HR to fill out their section. Hopefully it's right, I have to mail it in.

Mail it in?? That will take a good week to get there and then a couple months to make it through the system. Hopefully you kept cobra for a month.

It's the government, they are the definition of inefficient. There's a SS office down the road I should be able to drop it off. Then you're supposed to call and let them know the agent you gave it to. It's a mess, I was told 2 months was plenty of time. I told someone yesterday to get the ball rolling 4 months ahead of time. It would have helped if HR would have given me the info I requested back in December

Self checkout is great for 20 items or less. Doing an entire cart takes forever.
We do it as a team. I scan, he bags. We end up with our items grouped in the bags so that they go to the garage freezer, the fridge, dry goods & bath & cleaning supplies. And we do it without killing 400 plastic trees.

So you're a scanner. I knew it!

10:30 lunch? Sounds more like Hobbits 2nd breakfast.
My wife likes to give me hell for my eating habits. Some weekends, I get busy and won't eat anything all day until 8 pm. Other times, I could pull up a chair to a buffet and eat nonstop. If I had to follow a dining schedule now, I'd probably go crazy.

We aren't constrained to routine dining times post retirement. We eat when we're hungry, usually a late breakfast/ early lunch. Dinner is anywhere from 6 to 8.30. Of course, that gets shot all to hell when we travel because we have assigned meal times. :(

I'm having a hard time feeling much sympathy for you as I sit behind my desk .

Seriously, though, you two have taken some amazing trips. Happy and jealous that you are able to get out and travel the world.

Your time will come. We dreamed of this and planned for it, and have been nearly derailed by Covid and Lew's health. We're grabbing for everything we can, while we still can.

Neighbor goes out and gets pizza at 2 pm. They are constantly bringing home some sort of drive thru type food. Their garbage can is overflowing every Thursday morning with all the containers. Can't wait for the possums and raccoons to get into it.

LOL, at Aldis never use the self checkouts their scanning people are way faster than I am.
Walmart yeah I'll use them. The never have checkout lanes open anyway.
The Aldi check-out people are scary fast. Like the Chik-Fil-A drive-thru people. And both tend to be very pleasant people.

I have both the 2012 MC Hammer/Psy Too Legit-Gangnam style collab and the 2017 Backstreet Boys/Florida Georgia Line God, Your're Mama, and Me-Everybody collab bookmarked on my Chrome book.......different but similarly awesome. I can't decide which one I like better. I like both.

The AP must have financial trouble. Anytime I go into them I get begged for donations and if on my laptop, it basically crashes it with pop ups. My son says he has the same problem.

My wife worked there for a while between universities back in the day, before the scanners were introduced. She had to memorize the prices of items and had a cheat sheet when needed. She mentioned that she could easily recognize when Aldi shoppers came through because they would try to hide stopwatches and always had the same items to check out. Her boss received reports on her speed and accuracy. No doubt they don't do that now with the scanners and self-checkouts. It's crazy that there will only be two people working in a store at a time, yet they managed to unload trucks and keep it clean and well-stocked.
