Hilton madness could have been great but whomever ran it had no vision. Honestly, they would have been better off having a committee of students running it.

Open practice sounds cool but I didn’t realize the time

Testifying
I mean, Nebraska has a Rick Ross concert after their “midnight madness” event this fall. If Iowa State wanted to invest in this type event, they could’ve pulled something like this off. But unlike Nebraska, Iowa State doesn’t need celebrities to get fans excited about basketball.
WELL WE CAN GET MIKE JONES!!!

I'd argue this event isn't for the fans. It is another recruiting tool. Bring recruits in that weekend. Show them a packed Hilton Madness Friday night followed by a sold out football game Saturday.

It felt obvious to me that Prohm or the AD weren't on board to make it an event. Felt like the planning was last minute or not much planning was done at all. Maybe they just didn't want to divert funds to it when there are so many other priorities.

I'm not necessarily complaining that it's going away. I agree with the above poster that it was never really that great of an event. Even those first years, it ended up just being Georges on the mic being funny.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly disappointed assuming this means no Hilton Madness.

Agreed. I thought Hilton Madness got better the last few years. I really enjoyed the basketball game broken into quarters played by teams of MBB and WBB members.

The plays to open the scrimmage two years ago were fantastic.

Plus, it is just nice to be in Hilton.

since thompson spent his summer going to CCL to take countless hrs of video, and then edited it down to the highlights and posted them to CF, I no longer need to see the team at hilton madness. I saw them all summer already.

**** it, I'll bring at least my older kid. I'll be getting into town on Friday to visit family, and I can't think of anything better I'd rather do with my late afternoon!

Honestly, I streamed/rewatched them all, and only the first or second Madness was really any good ....

It took a decade to recover from Van and Bonnie emceeing it. Let’s just not take any risks like that again.

As a kid, I seem to remember events after one of the football games. Usually started with an autograph session and then they had a scrimmage and 3 pt shooting contest.

I'd love to bring back something like this. No need for a party atmosphere. Just have some sort of start to the season. Maybe that's later in October even.
