I think it's a little American biased. You also need to get into the definition of what a sports car is. They've got a Trans Am on there but not the Porsche 911? The 911 is truly an iconic car and a damn good one to drive (apparently)

The Miata is a great sports car. It's not going to win a drag race or compete at Daytonna or Le Mans, but put it on an AutoCross track or a road course and it'll tear it up. Lightweight, decent power, small, etc.

Reminds me of an article I read about 5-10 years ago where they said (and sort of proved) that a Ford Focus ST was actually a better sports car than a Ford GT, mainly because you could actually use the ST and it wouldn't try and just kill you the way a GT would if you tried to get spirited with it.
Not trying to kill you, more testing you and the results of failing such test were...um...final.

Episode 2: Fast and Furious Face-Off - the greatest sports cars of all time.

1. Ford Mustang
2. Chevrolet Corvette
3. Lamborghini Countach
4. Shelby Cobra
5. Porsche 550 Spyder
6. Ferrari Testarossa
7. Mercedes 300SL
8. Dodge Charger
9. Mazda Miata
10. Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

I've never been a big car guy so this isn't really my wheelhouse, but the Miata being on this list seems pretty laughable. Having 50% of the "Greatest Sports Cars of All Time" list being American made seems pretty homerish. And putting the Mustang as the #1 sports car of all time seems way off to me.

Interested to hear what car guys think.
Looks like a majority of the list I would have put together when I was in my early teens in the early 90's.

Not sure if anyone else is checking out this new series on History Channel hosted by Peyton Manning. Thought it'd be a colorful topic for discussion.

Episode 1: Stadium Smackdown - the greatest stadiums and arenas of all time.

1. Yankee Stadium (New York, NY)
2. The Collisseum (Rome)
3. Madison Square Garden (New York, NY)
4. Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
5. LA Memorial Coliseum (Los Angeles, CA)
6. Wembley Stadium (London)
7. Comiskey Park (Chicago, IL)
8. Wimbledon (London)
9. The Astrodome (Houston, TX)
10. The Superdome (New Orleans, LA)

My kneejerk is there are easily a few "misses" here. Yankee Stadium at #1 is silly IMO. Sure there's a lot of history but as a venue it's pretty blah. I'd think Wrigley deserves a spot ahead of that and ahead of Comiskey. Three of the top four being East Coast is typical bias. And four baseball stadiums but not a single dedicated European football stadium? Old Trafford should be on this list somewhere.

What a slap in the face to the rest of the world. I mean if you are only going to include 3 of 10 from outside the US, why even make it international? And of that 2 in London (granted probably should be there).

However I don't know much about stadiums around the world so I can't speak to what's missing, but either educate us about that, or just leave them off and make it domestic only.

Like others have said, even the list of US stadiums is totally ******.

Wrigley is a super-pleasant place to hang out and sort of watch a baseball game but I just don't know if it belongs on this list. I don't think Fenway should be on there either. Old Yankee Stadium probably should be on there if that is the one that is mentioned on the list.

These are the stadiums that I would consider putting on the list other than what is mentioned.

Camden Yards
Michigan Stadium
The Bird's Nest in Beijing
Maybe JerryWorld since it's so over-the-top

Personally, I would take Comiskey, Fenway, and one of either the Astrodome or Superdome off of the list.

Camden Yards?

Wrigley is an iconic stadium and has been since before I was born. That list is a joke.

Two episodes in and IMO it's a fairly entertaining show with interesting historical info, but the lists for sports stadiums and sports cars have had serious question marks and I believe are 0-2 with their #1 rankings. Onward.

Episode 3: Candy Clash - the greatest candies of all time.

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
2. M&Ms
3. Snickers
4. Kit Kat
5. Hershey Bar
6. Gummy Bears
7. Jelly Beans
8. Pop Rocks
9. PEZ
10. Twizzlers

For the first time so far, I agree with their #1. That said, this list is very chocolate-centric... 50% of the list and the entire top-5 are chocolates. That's a problem IMO. But, I do think Twix deserves a spot in place of Kit Kat. The Hershey Bar is pretty blah but I understand the historical significance. Notable absences IMO include Skittles, Sweet Tarts, Starburst, Nerds, Mike & Ikes.

Even if I don't personally agree with this list based on my preference (no 100 Grand???), I kinda get this list. Each one has a niche of some sort. If you were ask people to name 6 candies, the top 4 on this list will appear on a 80-90% of peoples' lists.

Pez was the weird inclusion of the bunch for me. Again, I get that they were the first one to have the cool little dispenser, but completely leaving off suckers (tootsie roll pops, blow-pups, dum dums, etc) in favor of Pez ?

Agree on PEZ, it's all about the dispenser. Also surprised cotton candy didn't make the cut, historically pretty significant especially when it comes to small town carnival Americana.

Episode 4: Invention Showdown - the greatest inventions and innovations of all time.

1. Printing Press
2. Light Bulb
3. Computer
4. Telephone
5. Internet
6. Automobile
7. Steam Engine
8. Radio
9. Telegraph
10. Flushable Toilet

Interesting stuff with this one and several notable absences... the wheel, television, airplane, camera, nail, concrete, steel, and not a single spot for medical breakthroughs like penicillin or antibiotics, or things like DNA and pasteurization? Some of this probably comes down to what qualifies as an invention (computer) vs. a discovery (fire).

Interested to hear what others think, particularly the engineering minds.

Or the ambiguity of some like the 'internet' (ie DARPA) which 'evolved' over several decades.

Agree. There's also the question of invention within an invention. The computer made the list obviously, I'm not a tech guy but from what I understand computers couldn't have been invented without first inventing the semiconductor. So which is really the greater invention?

I'd put the wheel, gunpowder, beer, and buffalo wings on that list.

Electricity before the light bulb. Electricity is far more substantial than the light bulb. The bulb replaced candlelight. Electricity was truly innovative.

Plumbing/water pumps before the flushable toilet.

Four of them are a sequence of communication innovations
Printing press, telegraph, telephone, internet
Seems they could be condensed in some manner

Atanasoff might disagree. But, your premise is still correct because in his case the 'tube' had to be invented first in order to build the first 'binary' computer.

I'm nominating toilet paper for the list for best inventions. It's pretty important stuff. That is, unless you're rich like the Kennedy's and can afford one of those high-end Japanese toilets.
