But why sit Korie at crunch time? Can't we still play Will at 1 and keep Korie in the game for his offense, which is better than BuBu?

Because KL's offense wasn't needed when Will is running the point, and Bubu plays better defense.

notice that OU didn't make a bucket after Bubu came in.

Again, KL didn't play incredibly poorly (9 asts, 2 tos) but Bubu's D along with Will at the point gave us a MISMATCH and an edge for the comeback. Hoiberg is the king of creating mismatches. Thought he got outcoached (and we came out flat) in the first half but great turnaround.

On another note, I still can't believe how calm CFH is during those games. I'm flippin' going crazy, pulling my hair out and he's just calmly wandering the sidelines - no big deal.

It's really incredible and I have no idea how he does it.

KL had no offense today. Couldn't buy a basket. And since he wasn't at the point there isn't much need for his passing if he doesn't handle the ball.

For all of you that think he isn't a great coach and blame him for any loss - check yourself.

I knew Fred was legit when he straight out-coached Calhoun in the NCAAs last season. Haven't doubted him one iota since. Fred is for real.

I think the best part was Lucious telling coach to not put him back in the game because the way the team was flowing with whom all was on the floor. Completely unselfish. And he'll come back and play better tomorrow night - we'll need him to.

But...but...but... he's a young and inexperienced coach, he'll learn!

I wonder if the haters ever get tired of being wrong.

Lucious was a stand up guy today. Taken out of the game on a gamble by Fred, he does not let it get him down. He cheers as hard as Niang on the bench.

Good job, Korie! My respect for you grows all the time.

Fred always talks about "runs" in basketball. Do you suppose after the close losses we've had he planned this game to have our "run" at the end of the game?

I feel like a bad fan for all but counting Isu out of this game. But Fred did a phenomenal job mixing it up for the entire game. More of a relief victory than celebratory win. Congrats to the guys, let's get Kansas.
I was like that, and had just commented to my son, about how bad ISU was playing and they start that run. Maybe negativity was my good luck charm.

I think there's another "NBA" portion of his coaching that doesn't get recognized in that I don't think he necessarily makes those changes during the regular season. I think at times he's willing to take a loss to let the team, or certain players, attempt to work through things. To figure out what they are capable of and what they aren't.

Now its the post season, and he's willing to pull out all the stops.

I love it.

All of these reasons is why KL stayed on the bench.

Plus, I honestly believe that our ball movement is a little better when Bubu is in the game. His passes seem to happen faster and are more crisp. There have been some phenomenal "around the horn" moments this season where almost everyone briefly touched the ball that led to a big 3. And almost all of the time, Bubu was in the game.

I think Bubu can sometimes get after it defensively better than KL can. Plus, KL will be plenty rested for tomorrow's match up.
