So this is cool... @JStanz51 advertised this site on one of the podcasts so I went to check them out.

https://www.homefieldapparel.com/collections/vintage-iowa-state-store

The gear is pretty cool, but even better, they don't have toe apparel on their site (yet). Kind of cool that ISU got on their site first.

Here is the right up they have on Iowa State:

"ISU is Iowa's largest university, and has a rich history of incredible vintage logos that we've implemented here, and will continue to implement. ISU has one of the best home basketball environments in Hilton Coliseum, where "Hilton Magic" seems to always knock off top-ranked teams."

Glad you liked what you saw on their site! I’m seriously not lying in that ad when I say their shirt I have is the softest Cyclone shirt I’ve ever worn. I love it.

Sometime in the next few days they’ll be coming on here to get feedback from you guys on future shirts with retro logos, traditions, etc. that you would like to see. They’re working hard to make the best Iowa State apparel they possibly can.

P.S. If you order something and use CyNation20 at checkout you get 20% off your order. ;)

I'll jump the gun and suggest one: I have long wanted a t shirt or sweatshirt with the university seal "Iowa State University of Science and Technology/Science With Practice" on it...just a simple ~6" seal in the middle, probably some block text of 'Iowa State' with it, the kind of thing you see at lots of schools as in examples below. Grey with cardinal, cardinal with gold, etc. I would buy two just in case one wears out or is spilled on!

I know ISU trademark office says something about the seal is only on letterhead (or the fake fireplace at the Union - see this in google maps photos) but I swear I saw it recently on some shirt, and I don't think the site always said "Note: Use of the University seal is restricted to official documents signed by the University President, and selected consumer products on a case by case basis" as it does now. (source: https://www.trademark.iastate.edu/marks/graphic) That might mean things more like fancy pen holders or big-donor-wear button down shirts but it is worth a shot! (And since this would be a classy shirt not promoting ISU chapter of NORML :) they might say yes!)

I think lots of alums and campus tour kids would want that. Also it would expand into the underserved "non-sport-fan who is still proud of their school" market!

(similar examples abound everywhere but ISU)

Thought they looked good and pulled the trigger on a sweatshirt and got a T-shirt for the gf. Sometimes the level of nerdery on this site is unbearable. Talking about science guy above.

How would you describe the fit for these shirts? I'm always between sizes and hesitant to pull trigger for online merch....

Thanks!

Thanks!
I'm 6 ft tall with a lengthy torso. I too find myself in between mediums and larges a lot. I went with a medium for the t shirt and a large for the sweatshirt. When I got both I was surprised to find that both have a longer torso while still keeping a slim fit. Exactly what I am usually looking for.

If I had to do it again I might switch the t shirt to a large. The medium still fits well, but could be a bit bigger and would be perfect.

Hope this helps.

Hey everybody! Just created an account yesterday to ask ya'll what your favorite Iowa State logos or traditions are. So funny that this thread started!

We're thrilled to be partners with Cyclone Fanatic and learn more from you all - the diehards - about ISU. Please always feel free to reach out to me (Connor) with ideas either on here or at my email, [email protected]

We'll certainly be producing more Cyclones gear, and we really appreciate all the support thus far!

Thanks for reaching out. I think one cool story you can read about is Jack Trice (Football Stadium is named after him). He was the first African American football player in ISU history. He died while playing in a game against minnesota in 1923.

Not sure the rules, or who would need to sign off on it... but I think it would be cool to make a "jersey" t-shirt with the 5 vertical lines down the front (see throwback example below) and "Trice" and the number 37 on the back (even though they did not have names on jerseys back then).

Here are some links to read up on it:

Okay this is really cool, and great to know. We've done a little research on Trice already, and want to find a cool way to honor him and his legacy

Those are sweet but paying 32 bucks for a T-shirt? Ya, that isn't happening.

You get what you pay for although I would say you're mostly paying for the unique artwork with Homefield. The shirts are soft, but they do get a little worn and loose at the bottom after a few washes. Still a quality shirt that I'll be buying in the future.
