The good old days had every single basketball game on ABC. Also the other good old days (last year) had everything on free channels. If you are satisfied with KU vs Iowa State on streaming where nobody will watch and you have to pay. That’s fine
You are putting your head in the sand if you don't recognize that getting to where every football game is on TV was part of a process and that had a cost. It continues to have a cost and next year we will be paying it. I would be very comfortable only having to continue to pay for ESPN channels and Fox sports channels to see every game, but that isn't the direction college sports are going. ISU fans who were around in the 80s and 90s should have learned the lesson that those who don't invest in their teams risk losing them. Do you not remember our administration who thought sports were a bother? If we take the cheap way out, we won't have a team to worry about.

And as far as every ISU BB game being on ABC - not every Cyclone fan lived in central Iowa.

cyclones.tv will be gone next year
and all will be espn+
so you basically transfer your subscription
will this force even more people to cut the cord?
if you are paying for traditional tv and streaming services at what point do you shift entirely to streaming since you now have to stream for some content?
big12 was smart to not start their own network and just partner with espn imo.
at some point mediacom and others that have not diversified into content providers(like comcast) will just become straight utilities like alliant and mid-american?
and now the cubs are starting their own network but they became popular by airing on wgn across the country for decades?

stuff and let us have free stuff. KU vs ISU basketball on ESPN plus is my last straw. I won’t be nearly as invested in college sports if they keep raising ticket prices and making us pay to watch the Clones. Not worth it. I’ll find other things to do. I know some will blast me but there is to
Much free stuff to do. I know it’s all about money now but
Man I miss the old days.

Plus ISU vs KU deserves big
Monday or at least on ESPN.

ESPN is not free. You subscribe to a service that carries the channel so you are paying for it. McFly...

I miss the illusion that it wasn't all about the money.
It really isn't as much fun this way.

every isu game being on espn networks i think has enhanced their brand considerably along with the big 12 basketball as a whole
that is one of the weaknesses of the conferences that started their own network
not as much exposure
and being on espn+ i think is good because espn will be the #1 watched sports app for decades to come

I apparently didn’t pay attention when looking at the schedule but now I’m mad too. ESPN+ is a good move as a replacement to Cyclones.tv but that’s what it was sold as a replacement of our 3rd tier rights. Putting conference games on there especially this year when we are stuck with both is BS.

The same good ol' days when we were lucky to see more than one football game on TV a year?

I agree. I was just pointing out to the OP that even though most ISU MBB games were on ABC, it was pretty much just central Iowa.

Hey, I am lazy and would love to just let my Cyclone.TV membership auto renew and not have to do anything, but now I have to decide if I will renew for things like VB, wrestling, WBB and even an occasional soccer game and add ESPN+ or just cancel Cyclone.TV altogether.

It's not that bad. But I canceled Cyclones.TV when they announced this "deal". I was one of the first that signed up and had it at $60 / year. So I'll sign up for ESPN+ at some point and saved a little money. For now.

The old days when there were 3 college games on a week? Which were the top 5 in the country, which gave pretty much a select few a huge recruiting advantage? Those Days?

You know the days when OK, NE, MI, ND, AL, TX, USC were pretty much the only thing you could watch on TV. Those Days?

The days when Iowa State was NEVER on TV? Those days?

How about the days when Iowa State didn't build anything for 40 years and got left in the dust by every other D1 program in the country, and couldn't land a recruit in pretty much any sport, With a game day atmosphere that was in the toilet. Those Days?

You are right those were some, "Good ol' Days."

Then you look at our ticket prices that are still well below most of all the rest of the P5 schools out there, and out athletic budget is damn near the lowest in P5 too. But I know you want it to stay that way so you can make damn sure we are the dumpster in all sports forever. Right?

I mean I'm sure you would love to get all those cheap tickets and none existent TV games when we couldn't win a game to save our life, Right?

Or I guess you can pay a $5 a month membership and get every Big 12 game plus a ton more content, with even more added all the time without even having to have a cable package.

But then again it is the days where everyone wants FREE ****!
