after watching all the conference games yesterday, other than OU I think we will compete in every game remaining. With the odd placement of the OU game you never know... I hope the fanbase hangs in, I know the jewels are getting to a numbing factor, but there are much better days to come!!! And worstcase, me any my tailgate will have the usual fire in the ditch with or without you.....

It really doesn't hurt anymore. It probably took less than 5 min to get over this loss. We have been fans of this for long enough to expect it. I think my nuts at this point can handle a punching match with Mike Tyson. I am optimistic as well with CMC, but I'm also aware that increasing recruiting doesn't always necessarily translate to wins. I think Campbell elevates us to the next level, but I'm also ready for if he doesn't.

We're not that far from being 4-2.

Yes, I know, that's the most ISU thing ever to say.

Had leads against UNI, Baylor, and OSU late... even overwhelming ones in the second and third cases... and yet we blew it/here we are. Ugh.

We are Iowa State.

For me, the thing that eases these losses are the simple fact of how much growth this team has showed since week one. What this tells me is this staff is actually doing their job and are able to coach these young men. What really makes me optomistic is, if this staff can do what they are doing with a cupboard that doesn't have much, what they will be able to do when they are able to play with a roster that has depth and a good amount of talent.

Improving and losing to a better team is one thing...being the better team and losing is another. I feel like we can safely and accurately say we are choking games away at this point. The improvements are beyond my wildest dreams...now lets act like the better team and win.

I want to see how the team responds as we go through the season; specifically next week. The growth so far has been amazing. However, one of MCs challenges will be not allowing the team to quit. Even though we've had two devastating losses, there are winnable games left on our schedule...assuming the team doesn't quit.

I'm sure CMC would like to banish the "We are Iowa State." phrase from our vernacular as part of the change of our culture.

I agree there is growth, but it needs to translate to wins against the second tier conference opponents. If it doesn't this progress is just a flash in the pan. We have seen flashes but let's score some points in the 4th quarter before we get too excited.

Next week will be telling. Texas isn't that good, but there's still potential there so their breakout game might be at a bad time for ISU.

Lack of depth is going to show much earlier than the 4th quarter if injuries start to occur, which is pretty natural this time of year.

He can if he wins some of these games.

I agree but only in 2 years if things haven't gotten better.

Rhoads was given 3 (4, really since 2012 went to waste) years of various levels of ineptitude before being pulled, and that was with his own players.

Couldn't watch yesterday, but it sounds like things went well until late, and last week was about as well prepared/coached as I've seen ISU in a real long time.

Matt Campbell and his coaching staff are obviously the right people for rebuilding ISU back into a winning program. That is the solace for me, this team is improving and learning. Tough lessons, but once we get a little clutch in the 4th quarter this program will see the rewards from the effort in the form of W's.
