I wonder if Lanning switches positions for next season?

The dude is loaded with talent. Would be nice to have him and Park on the field at the same time. He is a utility guy like Ryen. If we lose Lazard to the NFL, I would love to see Lanning at h-back or tight end opposite of Chase Allen.

I think you leave him where he is for next year. It appears the coaches think Park is the future, but having someone like Lanning in the goal line situations is nice. Allows for one additional blocker - with a guy that can still throw the ball to keep the defense honest.

If this teams continues to grow in the offseason like they did during the season - football season should be fun next year.

H-Back/Wildcat baby. Gotta keep him on the field.

Not sure why he needs to change positions. We could put him in different spots on the field and still have him primarily a quarterback. I think when Penn State beat up Iowa they had a quarterback in the slot. The fact that he can throw the ball too seems like it makes him a more effective runner.

No way, keep using Joel like you have the last few games. You have to think that they will be putting some wrinkles into the playbook for next year. I would love to see them incorporate the run pass option that K-State used with Collin Klein. They will have to do something to make things a little less predictable when Joel is in but man I love that package. Kudos to the staff for making the 2 QB system work, that is not an easy task.

I think he'd get more touches where he is now than if he switched positions.

I think Saturday the reason it truly worked is you saw a game where both were playing well and they were used when the situation required them rather than which one was playing better or which one was making less mistakes. Every time one or the other came in the game it seemed like the right move even though the other had been doing well, and Lanning had the deep pass that connected to keep them honest.

Park had one of the better games throwing the ball that we've had from a QB in a long time, especially given the conditions. Incredible that he looked so much better than Mahomes.

We really should look at KSU Collin Klein footage. I was mocked for saying it last year but Klein and Lanning are so incredibly similar. I really don't think Klein was so much better throwing the ball mechanically, just that KSU had a more consistent offense around him. Running the ball they look like clones of each other.

Joel just had 5 touchdowns in a single game. This is on a higher level than Al Bundy!

Leave him where he is and keep using him the same.

We haven't done it much, but I'd love to see the occasional play action, as teams are really keying on the run when Joel is in there.

Lanning definitely has a better arm that Klein. Defenses were forced to stack the box on him so when he did throw the ball he had some wide open targets off of one on one coverage. I can see CMC & Co getting pretty creative with the Lan Ram package next year.

Dude scores 5 touchdowns and we want him to switch positions. I get the rationale, but the timing of this suggestion cracks me up.

I like the way Campbell has been using both of them recently. Obviously bad defenses make these decisions look better, but if our O-line keeps improving, there is no reason this system can't keep working.

And it's not like Lanning can't throw or Park can't run. Changing quarterbacks and then mixing up the play calling on occasion will keep defenses honest. Like Pride said, a well-timed play-action with Lanning is going to result in a big play if the defense is keyed in to the run.
