I was watching Josh Pate and he mentioned this potential scenario which I hadn't thought about.

With Boise winning and if Clemson beats SMU, does the B12 champ stay higher than Clemson and slide into the top 4 and get the CFP bye?

beyond the P2, Clemson and FSU, the committee does not care about us

going back and forth on it. Our Ttech loss is probably the equivalent to their Louisville loss.

They have 2 other losses, but to ranked teams. One of those losses is a massive blowout to Georgia.

Hard to say. I could see it both ways. The logic to me says behind but my scorned heart says they will jump us.

Either way. Cheer for them cause it’s our only shot at a bye

Agreed on the pre-season. Kansas losing to UNLV, had WVU managed to play better or even beat Penn State... Kansas actually hurt us in many ways. Obviously by beating us though they also went on their little run of ranked wins so that helped.

But if Kansas had managed to beat UNLV and Illinois, that would have been big for the conference.
West Virginia over Penn State or Cincy / WVU over Pitt instead of going 0-2 versus Pittsburg also would have been nice.

Go 4-1 by beating Pitt twice and UNLV / Illinois in those 5.... it helps. Perception still wouldn't be great, but it'd help

The committee is totally telegraphing their move here with the last set of rankings. Of course Clemson jumps the B12 winner.

Whatever logic anyone is about to use to put Iowa State above Clemson if both teams win, throw it out the window.

Clemson is a national brand. Iowa State is not.

Clemson will be ranked higher.

I would love to be wrong, but I have seen time and time again, the committee, from its inception, refusing to look at teams based on merit.

Clemson beating a higher ranked team would jump us without question.
But we would be beating a higher ranked team than Boise St, so why wouldn't we jump them with this logic?

(I realize that's not going to happen, just pointing out that the committee has done and will do what they want with no concerns for double standards)

If Boise was one spot ahead of us we maybe could jump them. But they are 6 spots ahead. There is no double standard there.

Now having them 6 spots ahead, I could, and am, on board with debating that lunacy.

We’re 6 spots behind Boise. Clemson is 1 spot behind us.

Correct. They also played a very challenging non-con (Georgia and S Carolina). That’s what the committee will bring up. Clemson doesn’t have any good wins other than SMU, assuming they win tonight. Overall our resumes are very similar.

It will depend on how the games look. Anything remotely similar or better and Clemson will jump the Big 12 champ. If Clemson wins by single digits (preferably in a somewhat ugly game) and the Big 12 champ wins comfortably and looks good doing it they will likely stay ahead. If Clemson was going to be ahead in all but extreme result differences they would have already done it and have them ahead of ASU by the 9-3 SEC teams.

Guys, the point isn't that. I even said so in the bottom of my post. The point is that there is no point in trying to use logic and the committee will be contortionists cherry picking stats to support their biased decisions. It's just fun catching them in the catch 22.

Nothing the committee wants more than to send the B12 champ to a 1st round road game at Ohio St or Alabama, to get piss pounded by a more rested team playing at home.

Makes the B12 look even worse and they can say "see we told you they sucked" even though they threw you in front of the bus with the setup.
