If you think our offense is bad…

i was beside myself when we had the ball twice at approx the 50 and went nowhere…well…our neighbors to the east did it one better.

"Iowa started a drive in its own territory, was forced to punt, recovered a muff of said punt, moved backward again, punted again, forced another turnover, lost more yards and then kicked a field goal to tie Illinois 6-6. Iowa lost 21 total yards after starting in its own half of the field and still came away with points."

Difference is I think ISU can fix their problems. There are some players there, just need to try some different concepts.

Iowa otoh, has no hope this year. Their OL is not near good enough to make up for their utter lack of playmakers. Their QB is bad, their WR are bad, and their RB is avg at best. Nothing schematically or execution wise is gonna fix that. Theres just nothing good to be had; nothing to engage with and certainly nothing to strike with.

Seems to me that the ISU coaching staff, starting at the top, recognize the offense concerns. At EIU, the coaching staff hasn't admitted a problem (unless I missed it).

No problems at all as long as those 6 figure direct deposits hit the bank on time.

It almost makes you wonder. Are they TRYING to get fired so as to get max buyout?

I think Kirk wanted to retire and hand the keys to Brian, keep the paycheck in the family. But with the piss-poor performance, everyone hates Brian now. No one would accept his hiring. And it just keeps getting worse.

So since Kirk can't have it the way he wanted, maybe he is just going to set it all on fire on his way out, get a mega buyout, and then Brian goes back to the NFL to be a TE coach.

The concerning part for Iowa is that they don't have a QB room moving forward. That program is in trouble in more ways than one.

The funny part is that it's going to cost Kirk a spot in the CFB hall of fame.

I do love Iowa's coaches very subtly suggesting their players all just suck while completely ignoring the fact they are solely responsible for the players recruited to play in said offense.

Look at the offensive rankings I included in the "Perspective and Reality Check" thread. We're actually within a few spots of Iowa in a lot of offensive rankings, clear down in the bottom 15%.

We can at least move the ball somewhat. We just seem to struggle punching it in for 7. Iowa can't move the ball at all.

ISU should be just as concerned.

Recruits are watching games too.

Does this look like a fun offense to play in?

Will this offense showcase their abilities and help get them to the next level?

Now do people understand why we need to see adjustments and improvements this year?

If we don't, and CMC remains so loyal and stubborn, well, we've seen that movie before.

We are 95th out of 131 with YPG of 364

Hickeyes are 131st out of 131 with 239 YPG

Our offense is poor, but there are 36 teams (27% of all FBS) between us.

We are averaging 52% more in YPG than eiu.

Again, we have a poor offense, but nothing like the hicks so far this season.

Turns out Iowa is probably the 3rd or 4th worst opponent we'll play all year. The things you didn't know a month ago. Kind of gross to think about where the fan base might be without that win right now.
