I was really impressed with the Wisconsin-Green Bay team both nights they played at Hilton. They were also well represented by a good contingent of fans who were very vocal. I am surprised we came away with a win, as it seemed we were outplayed all night. I'm sure they are very disappointed to lose, but they have plenty to be proud of.

I would agree with that. I am wondering if they were booing the refs too??

they did boo the refs... for the swallowed whistle under a minute to go with their gal driving to the base line. It could have easily went either way

I am / was fine with it.

stand up fans, players, coaches and band. I would am fine with them returning to Ames for a regular season game.

I guess my point being that a large portion of our crowd didn't display the best of sportsmanship, throughout the game. I don't want to hijack the OP's original intent so I'll leave it at that and just agree with him.

Green Bay played very well and were enjoyable to watch.

I would say we were predictable in our crowd support/cheering/booing ... it is going to happen, it is an emotional setting.... I guess I see a no harm no foul situation. It would be hard to find a fan there that didnt' respect or like the W-GB team... we just needed to beat them.

Regarding that call-That call is made 99% of the time. When there is a consequence to not making the call such as going out of bounds they always make that call. I though it was a fouls but there are times when it is not and get's called. I just thought it was weird that it wasn't called.

Because their sound hurt my ears all night? lol. I mean, they had something like 3 or 4 songs and one was a high school band cheer. In fact, i think the bands that come in over christmas break from local high schools are sometimes better.

Yeah... it was like a combination of Willie the Wildcat, an old version of Cy, and the Stanford Tree.

Our fans booed nearly every call against ISU and most of the calls were correct. I was laughing to my kids about it.

that is called "home court advantage." Only at Iowa State would we want our fans cheering for calls that go against us if they are correct.

well... now... how old is that picture? is it fair to compare?

whoa. no hating on old school Cy. He was the best version of all 3.

Not hating, just having a little fun. When someone mentioned the mascot, my mind immediately went back to Cy when I started at ISU. He needed an upgrade and had a beer belly of sorts. I hated to see him go when he did even though it was time. I couldn't find that one, but found this one which the caption hinted was the first.

I also thought about putting Herky here, but he doesn't deserve the air time.

It's called ignorance. I was surprised at the lack of knowledge by the fans. Booing an obviously correct call is weird to me. Just me though. Save it for the close calls.

I am not going to defend it because I wasn't there. However, I think some of the booing on the correct call was because they may have thought the same correct call was not being made on the other end of the court...

All I know is that it was funny. Lots of booing for no reason. No biggie...it was fun, I just get annoyed at people who boo just to conform. The crowd was into it and that's a good thing.

Any booing that came from me was from the inconsistency displayed by the officials.

The team, the fans, the band, and the cheerleaders all did a great job. By the way where were our cheerleaders?
