I want to see this focus and urgency next week when Lipsey and Gilbert are back. Everyone!

Imo they've seemed to have a huge uptick in general urgency since Okie State with exception to the lull in the first BYU game.

I think Gilbert is truly struggling with an injury obviously but agreed he’s a bit of a head case and injury is causing problems. Not sure how real of a team guy he is. Hope not true because when he is on he’s great but disappointing year for him unfortunately.
He is an incredibly competitive guy that is also emotional. He’s been dealing with an injury that has limited his effectiveness much of the season.

To say basketball is a huge part of his life is a massive understatement, and is not probably an NBA guy. This season is probably the goal he had in mind for all those hours of work over the years.

Not sure why people read more into this than the obvious. This is everything he’s worked for. That’s mentally devastating for somebody like this.

Would really expose the committee’s inconsistencies if it does. They haven’t put much emphasis on conference tournament wins.
If we have learned anything through the years, the committee doesn't look for reasons for what it should do, it looks for justifications for what it wants to do. We will see, probably a 3 but would anyone be totally shocked if they slid us to a 4?

Since this ^ is such an unpopular comment, if I am wrong I will throw $100 to WeWill. If I am right, I challenge everyone who disagreed or dumbed it to donate $10

That's a great idea dude. You're on!

I agree with that douche. But I don’t need him dancing on our grave when the team he loves and follows with all his heart sucks and is an overall embarrassment to the state of Iowa.

I don't agree with him. We haven't been anywhere close to healthy since the beginning of conference play. Chalk it up as bad luck but this team has had to fight through a lot.

my take on it is when you're team gets to be up to #2 in the polls and is an AP Top 10 team for 95% of the year AND is inside the Top 10 of KenPom for 95% of the year, you should have Elite 8 hope.

Would it be a complete let down of a season if they made a S16 and lost? I don't know, I don't think so but I think there IS an argument there that it could be.

Injuries are just bad luck and you can't say it's a let down of a year because of a fluke thing that happened, too.

The injuries are what has changed my perspective. If this team doesn't make an Elite 8 or beyond, even a Sweet 16, I will be disappointed that injuries derailed what looked to be one of, if not the, best season in Cyclone history.

I won't be disappointed in the team.

glad he plays through most of it but there is no denying he's injury prone.
When you push yourself that hard, injuries happen. He is at the ragged edge of maximum for his physical ability. We love his effort and willingness to go all out, but this is a consequence.

If you floored the accelerator all the time and drove 100mph, your car would have breakdowns too.

You can't be upset with the teams performance or let down when injuries strike.

Again, I feel pretty optimistic going into next week, though. I feel like we can/will make a run to AT LEAST a S16 and I would be ok with that.

Injuries, sickness, etc have been a Russian roulette for them since the new year and it just so happens to be a group that is a sum of the parts type that needs everyone playing well or healthy to beat good teams.

I think they get fogged out on both ends with some weirdness but anyone saying they don't care or whatever needs to go get in a practice and get up and down the floor a few times to see what 'not caring' feels like.

Why would we drop to a 4 explain your logic?
ISU has a 9-8 record since mid February. ISU was a low 3 seed before losing to BYU. #4 seed would not be surprising at all considering how ISU was under-seeded last year. There is an old saying- don’t run to the finish line, run through the finish line.
