Yeah, right. You guys know more football than the coaches do. Goddamn, this gets so very old, so, so very old.

Yes, how dare someone come to an opinion forum with an opinion.

I can guarantee that half of the people on this thread could have called a better sequence of plays on the goal line yesterday, oh nevermind, they aren't "coaches."

I think the QB deployment was spot on yesterday. I also think the freshman RB was a little bit quicker, stronger, more determined. Maybe Warren cuts better. I can't forget that Warren is the guy that cost us the KSU and UNI games with his 4th quarter fumbles. MC seems to have gained some gutsiness with the player selections, 4th down calls, and onside kick. We still seem to have major problems with OL and LB positions.

Love Mike Warren...love both the freshman...they will continue to all play. Warren doesn't have the hands Montgomery does and that's pretty obvious. We stole Montgomery....no idea how they got him to come to Ames. Just give the coaches another year. I've seen so much progress and I can't wait to see the future.

If this coaching staff can't figure out a way to use Lanning more than just a part time qb, they have a problem

If this coaching staff cannot figure out how to use a 230 pound athletic QB at 1st and goal from the one yard line, we do have a problem.

One of the pay sites last week posted that the staff wasn't very happy with Mikes mom tweeting her feelings and getting in Mikes ear about how he's not being used enough.

Get used to it coaches. That's the way it is today. Warren was really good last year.Something has went wrong other than Mom's tweets. Maybe some off the field issues.

Warren had a good freshman season, but I think his numbers alone pumped him up to be better than he actually was. And people were trying to look for any possible hope for the future.

No doubt he is still a talented back, he(we) just don't have the same caliber OL as last season. Hope he figures it out and finishes with a great ISU career, but if there is an issue with him/mom then it's best for both parties to move on.

Montgomery and Nwangu look promising, and finding RB's to carry the football are a dime a dozen. Would be much more concerning if we were losing an elite QB, OL, or DL. But I have no idea if he's leaving beyond what has been posted here.

Warren's ego get too big and he decided not to try anymore?

If I'm remembering correctly, wasn't he held of of the spring game? What did they really expect? He's still been the best runner on this team. Yes, he has fumbling issues and yes, his hands aren't great, but you still have to find ways to make use of his running ability just like they are doing with Lanning.

CMC has to play who he feels is the best at each position. Mike is still getting carries. If he wants more, he needs to do something about it.

Personally, I would like to see Kene get a few reps. Like Jones, I think he can bring something special to the offense.

Yeah surprised Kene hasn't gotten some jet sweeps or something on offense. Really worth burning his redshirt to return a few kicks?

Between Warren, Montgomery, Kene, and Ryen, I expected us to use more 2-back sets. Also figured we would see Lanning and Park in at the same time a few plays a game. Or Jones has QB experience...use that run pass threat with multiple players.

This is a stupid post. So you think a guy that has only played QB his whole life should just be able to jump to another position halfway through his third year and play it?

Randy Peterson threw this out this morning. But every one knows he just throws stupid **** out there.

I predict cmc is going to do something to get us excited and get momentum during the off season like a new offensive strategy, coaching change, or something
He's not making a coaching change. These are his guys.

Let's visit this thread at the end of the 2018 season, see which side of the argument (pro-coaches, anti-coaches) wins the debate.

In fact, I'll save the thread and trot in out end of November 2018. The losers promise to eat bird -- and I don't mean turkey -- for Thanksgiving dinner.

Deal?

That's not on the coaches. They gave the offense 3 shots to bull Lanning in there and the players couldn't get enough push for 1 yard
Agreed with all of that as well other than I'd like to see him go under center vs shot gun when he's trying to go in.

My thought on Warren is that the OL was actually much better last year (yes, I know it is hard to believe) and they were able to create some creases for him. This year, not so much. Montgomery is just a bigger back, and seems to be able to make a hole, while Warren is doing a lot of juking trying to make something out of the poor blocking. The pass drops and fumbles don't help a lot.

The reality of the situation is no one is getting a lot of carries, because of the poor blocking way more than the abilities of the running backs. In addition it appears teams are really keying on the running backs in the zone read because they know that even if Lanning gets a few yards they can punish him and run him down.

100% agree, but the team has operated this way since McFarland was the OC
