2009 scouting report for Iowa St.
The key thing to look at here are the stats under the "Four Factors".
Red Shading = Bad
Green Shading = Good
The number in brackets is our national rank.
So to summarize if you don't feel like reading:
On offense we are ok at shooting, very good at not turning the ball over, but horrendous at getting to the free throw line and getting offensive rebounds. No shock there really, but interesting to see it quantified and compared to all other D1 teams.
On defense we are good at making the other team not shoot well, and very good at not letting the other team get many offensive rebounds or get to the free throw line. We are terrible at getting turnovers.
It is interesting to compare our rankings the last three years to McDermott's successful UNI teams. They had very similar rankings in all the 'Four Factors'. Perhaps a suggestion that McD's style is effective in the MVC but not the Big12? Just an observation.
