From our seats in Nippert, I'd say we had sections 103 and 104 pretty full of Cyclone faithful. Even snapped a pic of the guy in the upper level that had an ISU flag hanging over the ribbon. Good visiting fan experience, great seats and sightlines. I did find a souvenir cup someone left behind - tried to just buy a cup, but was informed that they were for beer only, at $15/ea. Concessions were average, but I didn't know about the food trucks up top and imagine they were an upgrade and a unique option, in stadium. It was nearly impossible to keep a roster sheet dry and in tact, but I also found one of those to take home on our way our out (unlike those sheets at JTS, they were a thin magazine page, the rain and spilled beer from the row behind us all but destroyed them; I still miss the full game programs that I collected home and away; I guess the single pages are easier to store.)
We skipped the Skyline and went for White Castle instead, always an experience... Parking was easy, used the Eden Garage. My dad took the shuttle, my boy and I walked. The tailgating was decent, ppl on top of the ramp and in the grid. Mostly friendly, only had one student comment on our vacuuming ability, something about sucking. Easy to get in and out, but that could have been helped by the result of the game. We watched the Catwalk and then had a police officer point us to where our busses were unloading. Cup of coffee right across from the stadium was a nice option.
For the next road trip to Cincinnati, for those coming from and returning to central IA - we took a slight detour to visit Edinburgh Diner in Edinburgh, IN. Their pork tenderloin game is strong, serving up a thin, 16 oz. 'loin! In the top tier of tenderloins I've had, and I've completed both of the Iowa Pork Producers Tenderloin Trails. Not my all-time favorite, but still very good!
And thus concludes my Yelp review of Nippert and our trip to Cincinnati. Tune in next time for my review of our travels to Provo...
