Iowa arrogance

Purdy had negative rushing yards. Iowa didn’t see ISUs capabilities yet. Let them be confident all they want.

If Purdy's lack of running was CMC's plan, not wanting to tip our hand then that bothers and worries me because that means they risked losing to UNI just for an advantage over Iowa. It reflects rigidity and lack of prep in coaching staff. Not saying that's the case for sure, but that's the way it seems on the assumption that Purdy was kept on a leash in the pocket.

Not exactly sure.
Having a lot of posts does not make someone a veteran. It makes them a loser who comes to a message board an unhealthy amount of times to find a community who can help them feel better about themselves.

By your standards, 99% of the people on this forum are trolls. That "truth" is easier for you to believe than the reality that most cyclone fans could care less what hawk fans say about our program. You make our fan base look weak. Find some strength and confidence. You might just like it.

I am enjoying all of this too much to set the laptop away. I will wait for you and a few other posters to band together like insecure people tend to do so they can gather false courage by attacking someone they feel threatens their fragile sense of worth.

Go Clones!!

I must be in the minority who could NOT care less.

This shouldn't surprise you. The reason the Drew Tate game in Ames is one of my favorites is because of how sure Iowa fans were before that game. ISU just kicked their ass that day.

You also have to remember half those Iowa fans probably didn't watch their game. I know when we were doing some shopping in DSM as there game was going on there were plenty of people in Hawkeye gear doing the same. One person even asked how Iowa did in their game.

Oh, Brandon....just like the guy who talks tough after the fight is over and never ever got his hands dirty. Now you can say you were a part of it. Good for you. You little scamp, you!

You’re slipping.

Speaking of insecurity. How insecure are you to sign up another screen name ?

Do you think maybe it was so he didn't take a big hit scrambling or sliding and possibly get hurt?

I was at the 2009 Iowa/UNI game. 2 days after we smoked NDSU. They were coming to Ames the next weekend.

I walked out of Kinnick with a **** eating grin, sure as hell that we were going to crush Iowa.

We all know what happened next.

I think we didn't run Purdy around the field because we didn't need to. We could get 6-7 yards every single pass play if we wanted to, and we did. We shot ourselves in the foot over and over again in plenty of ways and things didn't go our way on downs that could have put the game out of reach. One missed block, a dropped pass, re-engaging on a block without your helmet, missed read, maybe a poor play call.

All in all, we had plenty of opportunities on the offensive side of the ball using the game plan we used, to win by double digits, but we didn't. Credit to UNI, but we have a lot of things to clean up overall. I was a little iffy on having the bye week before Iowa, but now I'm extremely happy we do.

Iowa vs ISU is a true throw everything out the window rivalry game. Weird **** will happen. Who benefits from that weird **** often wins this game. Prototypical game breakdown is fine but it’s not often right or useful for this game.

Of course sometimes the game goes right to form but that in itself is often a surprise.

Personally, my Iowa Hawkeye friends have all mentioned to me that although they think Iowa will win (which any Iowa fan does), they aren't predicting a blow out by any means. They all watched the UNI game and said Iowa State's defense is really good, and our offense was moving it all over UNI, just couldn't capitalize due to a bunch of different things.

I like to think I'm a semi-rational fan, and if Iowa would've squeaked one out against Miami Ohio, or even if they would've against UNI, I wouldn't be expecting an Iowa State blow out. Week one is about getting on the field and taking care of business. Iowa did not play perfect in their game this past weekend, but they're going to get their mistakes fixed this week and then re-evaluate again after the Rutgers game this weekend. Some of the most progress comes from week 1 to week 2, and we have another week in there to fine tune everything.

I'm also not going to come on here and say I'm confident we win either. I still think this game will come down to the late 4th quarter, just like the past 2 years have.

Honestly both teams schedules set up nicely for the game. I'd much rather have another tune up game this week instead of a bye but it's still gives both teams plenty of things to work on in house
