The NCAA is finally stepping in and reviewing/approving uniform designs. It's possible that there is a backlog.

FOOTBALL RULES/COMPETITION COMMITTEE 2018 DIVISION I UNIFORM REVIEW
Overview:
In the past few seasons, some uniform designs have become problematic, with the clear visibility of the number and contrasting colors between the teams being the most significant issues. Special uniforms to honor an event, cause, etc. also do not have a formal process for approval. The uniform review process is an effort to create a structure for uniform approvals with membership support and participation. The intent is to approve uniforms as far in advance as possible, which will give game officials guidance before game day.

Process: With an initial focus on Division I, these steps will be required in order to have appropriate reviews of uniforms to ensure compliance:
1. Required submission. All uniform designs (artwork, photos, etc.) shall be shared with the NCAA and the conference football administrator. The NCAA has created an online form and accompanying email address for submission. These submissions are due by June 15 for the 2018 season.
2. Initial review. An NCAA staff member and conference football administrator will review all designs. Those that clearly comply will be approved without further review. The NCAA will communicate by July 15 the result of the initial review. Any designs that are questionable or may require submission of an actual uniform (instead of artwork or a photo) will move to a second level of review.
3. Secondary review. A subcommittee made up of members of the NCAA Football Rules Committee and NCAA Division I Football Competition Committee will meet periodically to review designs. Any designs that require a secondary review will be processed as quickly as possible, generally within two weeks of receipt of a sample.
4. Decision/Communication. Feedback will be provided and approval/denial decisions will be shared from the NCAA on behalf of the subcommittee. The athletic director, conference football administrator and coordinator of officials will be included in the communication.
5. Special uniform designs. It is understood that some uniforms may be designed outside of this established time frame. Schools/manufacturers should submit such designs as quickly as possible and the NCAA subcommittee will review these as quickly as is reasonable. If a review is time sensitive, please note that in the request for review.
6. Confidentiality. All designs shared with the NCAA will be kept confidential and it is understood that some designs will be unveiled by the manufacturer or school at a later date.

I found the site once when trying to find the exact shades of the official "cardinal and gold."
The shade of gold in that link you posted is not the shade we use now. Our current gold is far brighter.I don't mind that shade of cardinal but I think 1 or 2 tones darker would be better.

I never met anybody who likes the current Buccaneers "alarm clock" look.

I would much rather they kept wearing the uniforms they won a Super Bowl in forever or, frankly, just go back to the Bucco Bruce cream-and-orange uniforms.

I think the alternate logo could’ve been better but the more I get away from the group think of the internet, the more I don’t really mind it. I think cyclonefanatic just convinced me I should hate it and now I don’t. I still think it wasn’t great on red helmets.
I hated it before I knew anyone else did. It actually makes me angry and I don't have anger issues.

I agree Cydkar...Someone is going to have a lot of explaining to do if that turd is anywhere near the new Unifroms or helmets.

The last two years, we have featured shiny-gold items on the helmets. I wonder if we will be going that route with the gold color in general? Notice the center lining of the helmets and the "state" in I-State featuring the shiny gold in this image.

I would be for it. I also hope ISU finally features a GOLD/yellow helmet again too. It can't just be Cardinal/White for options.

If they are doing dark gray things for alternates from time to time, that is ok too.

Please do NOT use the bugle logo. It is trash. The I-State logo or the "Orr-nado" should be the only things featured on the helmets. (I love Walking Cy, but again, he's just a mascot logo.)

I would also like to see CYCLONES across the chest for home games and IOWA STATE for the road unis. But that's just me.

The shiny gold is only on those overall shiny decals. The regular decals we wore most of the time weren't like that. I think it's just an alternative option.

It will never happen bc someone making these decisions is color blind i think...The gold you refer too in middle of helmet is exactly type fo gold color we should be wearing...Not bright freaking yellow...We are not bright freaking yellow. I’m guessing in the past it has been mostly on Nike and them picking a shade of bright freaking yellow by some intern at Nike who wants to use a shade of yellow he/she has just never used before just because...lol..Ok rant over.

Is it possible that Nike and USC don’t want us to have the correct shade of gold?

That is actually Gold, although a mustard shade of gold. That isnt bright yellow...

And...the Jack Trice throwbacks were more a Notre Dame Gold which I definately prefer.

The throwbacks were WRONG. Just because you want a color doesn’t make it our color. FWIW I like the sunflower gold 70’s shade better too, but Trice wore a pretty bright yellow. The whole “we are metallic gold” or “we aren’t bright gold” claims don’t hold up well. We have worn yellow, metallic gold, and sunflower gold at various times but we’ve worn yellow for more years than the decade or so in the 60’s where we had a true metallic gold.
