^^ Found the guy that's still salty about Rhoads' trajectory.

Dude, if you can't see the difference between Rhoads winning with Chizik's recruits, and Campbell winning with Campbell's recruits; if you can't see the difference between lucking into Ws once in awhile vs. physically competing and even dominating the top-tier teams in the league... then I don't know what to say to you.
To be fair, IIRC, Iowa State has been preseason picked to win the North division. Iowa State was a missed field goal away from playing in the championship game 2 years in a row. Iowa State had a top 10 ranking once. Iowa State beat #2 OkState.

That was a terrific win, but the reality is Campbell hasn't yet accompmished anything 2 of the last 3 coached didn't. For anything to really change he needs to achieve consistent success and chose tp stay here. I hope he gets it done but lets not pretend he's rewritten the last 100 years of program history after a season and a half.

That is nonsense. How long has it been since we have had so many consecutive games where we were contenders in every game? Not to mention beating ranked opponents at this rate...

I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic too. I think Campbell is on a much higher trajectory than Rhoads. But I remember thinking at one time that Rhoads would have a statue or a building named after him.

CMC has destroyed the myth that "you can't attract recruits" at Iowa State. We have been having good student athletes who really want to be here.
CMC has proven that by explaining his visions and adapting to the current development (e.g social media, etc), good recruits will want to come here.
Not to beat the dead horse, but I never understood that CPR never wanted to have a twitter account when he was here and instead insisted on writing traditional letters to recruits. We have to admit that recruits are on social media: either you compete or you can't compete. I also recall the resistance (not sure whether this was with JP or CPR) to change the uniform - I think the argument was "we rather do things on the field" - yes, that's a valid argument but if you can do different things to create excitement, why you have to close certain doors?

I recall one of our former head coaches had a quote similar to this.... And I believe some of the posters had the same sentiments in the past.
The sentiment exist in the past - similar to sentiment that "you can't win in Ames". So call it a "myth", "sentiment" or something else - but they exist in the past.

If we ditch UNI for a power 5 school it will have to be a home and away. Less home games? No thank you. I'm OK having a tune up game first. Especially since we play Iowa second game every year.

Yes, one less home game every other year, but a lot more national exposure, expanding our recruiting base greatly.

Plus, if you play an upgraded schedule, and run the table, you've got to be a shoe-in for the Championship tourney, (ultimate optimism, I know, but with CMC, you've got to believe that anything is possible)!!!!!

I think the current state of the program shows the effect of having the right coach.

From CPR to CMC, the only change was the coach - and the effect is amazing. Now the question is how long will he stay?

Yeah, I loved CPR's enthusiasm and honesty with players and fans, alike. The thing that separates the coaches and their staffs the most is CMC's teams seem to continue to improve all season long, not just big strides early in the season.

“Similar”? Rhoda’s said that it’s hard to recruit DL. As in, anywhere not named Alabama, Texas, FSU, Clemson, etc. The blue bloods. In other words, a far cry from “you can’t recruit here”. So, yeah. Manufacturing “myths”.

I don't know... we were on a similar precipice with the men's basketball program right before Fred Hoiberg left, then he did leave and we've been picking up the pieces since then. I will believe it when I see it.

What?

We probably are talking semantics here but that was the sentiment or maybe myth in the past.

I am not sure where you are approaching my statement - my statement actually supports CMC and the program: CMC and the program are good enough to attract good players - in the past we have seen a lot of statements that “it was hard to recruit in ames - you can’t win in Ames” or “you can’t win consistently”

If we've been "picking up the pieces," I can't complain too much. Two tournament appearances (including a Sweet 16), a Big 12 tournament title, early-season tournament trophy, a 23- and 24-win season, fourth place in Big 12 regular season and 24th in the final AP rankings, ended KU's Phog win-streak .... Dreadful, dreadful memories.

Just awful.

Some fans are entitled A F.

We all have to ask ourselves, what can we do individually to help continue the unprecedented growth of the program. One, is of course is to continue to purchase tickets, and if possible, buy more. For me, I had two season tickets, and I now have four. And if you can't make the game, be sure you give them to someone who can. I think we can all agree after last week's game that a stadium full of cheering fans for four full quarters makes a pretty compelling statement. We need to make Jack Trice just as imposing as Hilton. Minimal seats for visitors (especially hok fans every other year).
Agree.
You can also go to : Cyclone Gridiron Club.com and join. Our goal is1000 members. In the past our annual contribution was 100% for use at the coaches discretion. For the next 10 years a significant portion goes to help fund the performance center and the north end zone changes, with the balance still for use at coaches discretion. Did you like the Liberty Bowl helmets? Gridiron Money. I am on the BOD. Message me if you have any questions.

We could have been 5-0 right alongside WVU and Vegas would have still had us as dogs. Vegas doesn't care about who is actually better than who, they care about where people are going to put their $$$.

I know Vegas doesn't care about records but you are wrong.
We would have beaten Iowa and TCU on the road, OU at home, AND been the home team. We would have been favored...100%.
The Campbell talk would have been non-stop which would push the public money our way.
Not to mention the sharps who certainly would have pushed the line. No way we are home dogs with that resume'.
