IOWA STATE TO BIG TEN?!? Dave Wannstedt thinks so.

People say this a lot but I don't understand it. Are we in a worse recruiting position right now, where we might end up in the B1G or we might end up in a reconstituted Big 12, then if we just said screw it, we're going all in on the backup option now for the purpose of stability?

If negative recruiting is being used against us saying "Iowa State is gonna be in a Big 12 that isn't really a power conference, with teams from the American," then just going ahead with that exact outcome doesn't really seem like it would stop the bleeding on the recruiting front.

Stability for stability's sake is not the answer when the only sure "stable" option at this exact moment is G5 elevation to the Big 12. Instability is better for now.
Let's be real, negative recruiting against ISU based on MC is sure to leave has been maxed out always. It can't be any worse. And yet our coach just keeps getting it done. He's just simply better than everybody else.

Yeah but he’s already coached in the Mac. There’s no way he’s going to want to do that again.

At this point... go get BYU, CSU... stay at 12 until OU and UT leave. Then look East after 2024 if we don't get teams picked off. This would be close to the old Big12 with north and south divisions.

BYU
CSU
ISU
KU
KSU
WVU

OU
OSU
UT
TT
TCU
BU

Would be the best financial option and one of the top competitive ones.

You know, there’s throwing **** on the wall, and then there’s flat out lying. We’re starting to get to that point. There are zero serious discussions about anything, whether it’s dissolution or expansion of the conference, until the **** with OuT is sorted.

but then you are diluting the payments by per schools by going from 10 t o12. they are not going to pay us additional money to add.

I’m starting to think BYU and UCF and we stop at 10. It would keep the money the highest. And we already know BYU is a Pac-12 non-starter. If the SEC poaches the ACC and adds FSU, Miami might veto UCF as well. If we elevate Cincinnati and Houston we would have to consider the possibility that in 10-15 years they would be competing with the existing schools for ACC or Pac-12 invites.

I'm still trying to figure out the origin of this theory that this is all part of the long game to get us into the B1G, and whether it actually has any legs or if people are just latching on to the theory that gives us the best possible outcome and shaping every new event to fit that narrative.

I hope it's true. I'd like to believe it's true. I've yet to see anything that suggests that it is.

Count me as latching

I think you can only add 2 teams for reasons mentioned above.

I see them doing something like Cincy and BYU

I would like UCF for the state state of florida recruiting, but I can't stand directional schools and they are way down the pole in their own state. LIke Houston is to Texas, A&M, Tech, Baylor, TCU

BYU is the only option out there that moves the needle, but Cincy is definitely the best of the rest.

Houston and BYU make a lot of sense. if 12 then Cincy and Boise State wouldnt suck. All from a football competitive stand point.
