There is film now. DC's will scheme to take away what a working VS OSU. Even in the second half OSU caught up and the offense sputtered a bit. However, I would like to see what a healthy DM can do with Brock.

It “sputtering” in the second half means still putting up more points in the half than we were averaging per game before that, I’ll take it.

If we do that every half, that’s 36 points per game. I’ll take that in a heartbeat with this defense.

Maybe that’s why guys like Milton were wide open by the end of the game.

Teams will definitely be looking to take things away, but this staff should be able to capitalize on that

What baffles me is how Brock was under the radar until after his SR year. He put up some insane numbers! All of the major teams that offered all came in pretty late in the recruiting process. But things worked out well for us and for Brock!..... I just saw he was named NBC's freshman of the week.

And now we can all follow his brother's recruiting. I think Brock getting some national attention will help his brother, Chubba Purdy, especially if he keeps playing like he did against Okie St. Chubba is looking like a very good prospect himself.

So the argument can be made that Ok Lite wasn’t prepared for a scrambling qb. I would counter with the fact the Brock is insanely good at pump fakes, reading a defense, keeping his eyes upfield, and pushing to make positive yards as opposed to forcing called plays. How many times did dude pump fake, juke and completely F with a decent defense?

He’s the real deal. As an admitted critic of Campbell being OC, this kid is the REAL DEAL.

Once you have the fact that he's effective established, I think the threat he poses keeps at least one defender out of a coverage and one or two more leaning forward. Makes a huge difference in how people have to defend us, and also helps the RB's as defenders have to account for two threats out of the backfield.

I sure hope he is the guy. As others have said we have gone through this before several times. Purdy looks to be very talented, has good wheels and also seems to have very good pocket presents. Had a couple of great fakes, one on the TD run and one on the TD to Jones. Great fakes really can make a huge difference if they make a defender think for a split second. Threw some very nice passes. He was short on a couple of them, but for a first game that was pretty awesome.

WVU will be spending a lot of time in the film room figuring out what he can and can not do. Hopefully our coaches are working with him to correct anything they think he is doing to tip plays, because I'm sure there is something. Those DC don't get paid the big bucks to sit around speculating on chat boards.

We were playing on a "fast track" field, it's no wonder he went in second series and stayed in.

We were probably going to need to score in the 40s to win.

That's probably a 28-24ish game on our home field.

Chubba is an awesome name. Class of 2020 where we already have Aidan Bouman...

I'm curious to see how he performs against WVU now that the defense will actually be prepared for him. Hopefully he will be successful again and we can stop the QB carousel this year.

I never understood the people calling for Noland over healthy Kempt and to be honest I still think Lanning was the better all around QB than Park although the end solution of turning him into an All Big 12 LB worked out great. (just saying I'm not a guy who always lusts for the backup qb, we all know at least half of football fans are that guy)

That said, Purdy is a beast. He's not undersized like Richardson and OK State was answering his scores unlike KU in that game.

If Kempt and Montgomery were both 100% healthy I could see a debate of Kempt vs Purdy if we're ignoring the next year upside. I don't see a debate under any other circumstance even if Purdy has a pretty bad second game. That game and the physical nature of his play is enough to stick with him long term.

Opponents having film on Purdy running like a beast can only help our passing game and Montgomery.

It's the reflex thing everyone says. Having film is better than being surprised, but it still means they have an extra running back to account for on every play while also suggesting the passing is more accurate rather than less.

It looked like he took a pretty good hit on that 60 yard pass to Milton. He stood in and delivered a pretty incredible ball for a freshman in his first start at a ranked opponents house.
He stood in very well on the pass to Butler that should have been roughing the passer (and a TD). The fact they reviewed that and still didn’t call it is infuriating. That’s the unhealthy (late) hit they’re trying to eliminate, completely within the spirit of the new rules, but no call even on review. Meanwhile, countless flags and injections happen on benign tackles/contact due to refs following their orders to lean towards protecting players. Disgusting incompetence once again by Cooper Castleberry and crew.

After that interception, I think it's time for Real.....
You’re joking, and he may not yet be an every down QB, but he is a playmaker that will cause defenses problems in the future. We have more of those than we’ve shown recently, when we think our defense will keep the other team in-check.

I totally get the folks pointing out that there's going to be film on him now. Having said that, Oklahoma State was not totally surprised by him. One of the announcers mentioned Mike Gundy said in a pregame interview that if the freshman quarterback plays he gives them a lot better run option. So they had an inkling of an idea, you can't tell me that they didn't have some sort of contingency for that.
