Is this recruiting class done?

Or are we still in on some dudes? If so, who remains as a realistic possibility? This is probably addressed in the O.B. thread but I wasn't going to read through 20+ pages to find out. Thanks

We are at a maximum of 10 scholarship players for the 2023-24 if I'm looking at things correctly. That's if Tre King, Grill, and Ward take a covid year of eligibility plus nobody transfers out.

So, definitely not done adding players. Maybe one more freshman, and likely a few transfers.

Likely done with the main high school targets, but maybe we should just go for Pryce Sandfort for fun

Also, will still be going after transfers after this season

We could be thin at the 5 spot. We definitely lose Osun and possibly Jones. Looking for a transfer in would seem logical. Others to fill in spots who leave.

Way up there
I really hope we go transfer to replace Holmes and Gabe. No more HS kids unless maybe it's a project, a raw big guy or wing with some length. The 23/24 team looks like it will be a bit green, need to use the transfer portal to get old. Only a select group of frosh are going to be ready for the big 12 most seasons, I think Baylor was the only team playing more than 1 last year and they were both highly touted kids (1 and done) that were surrounded by a group of very experienced players.

I hear what you’re saying, but there really aren’t a lot of guys who could transfer. We have a crap ton of seniors.
I think we should be prepared for just about anyone to transfer out, especially in the current era of NIL and possibly no transfer limitations in the near future. As of now, we have no reason to think an underclassmen could leave, but 5 months ago we would've thought the same thing about Tyrese.

Lipsey
Eli King
Watson
- a lot rides on how this first year goes. Will one of them blow up and get whisked away with NIL money? Or will one of them feel spurned when their playing time dries up at the end of December and look for more playing time elsewhere?

Jones
Grill
- True seniors with an extra year available if they want it. Grill seems like he'll either use it in Ames, or just be done with basketball. Jones was rumored to have one foot out the door this offseason. Would be nice to retain Jones one more year, as 23-24 is, as of now, looking a bit thin in the frontcourt. My guess is TJ recruits over him for the 2nd consecutive year, and he transfers down a level for his last year of eligibility.

Ward
Williams
Tre King
- Ward and King with an extra year, if they want it. None of us really know what we're getting with them yet, but ideally, they enjoy Ames and are both contributors and come back for their final season. Williams is similar, but with 2 remaining if he wants them.

It is just hard to say, and speculating that any of them could leave sucks, but it is the wild west out there. Unless the limitless transfer thing gets passed before the season ends, I would at least assume the guys that have transferred once already (Williams, Ward, T. King if he wants to use his extra year) stick around. Jones and Grill could, in theory, grad transfer and be eligible immediately, regardless of the fact they transferred once already.

The one player I would love to see added to the class is Taison Chatman. When I watched highlights of Demarion Watson I was equally, if not more, impressed by Chatman and I think his game would fit well with the other pieces we have on this team.

I am less concerned with getting a Center or a traditional "5". The way the game has evolved a solid PG/CG and four long athletic players of which at least two are consistent shooters is a good starting lineup.

TJ can absolutely swing for the fences for HS talent on a 3-0 count if he wants. He has a formidable class locked up and IMO no need to go for anything outside top 50 HS talent. Great spot to be in!
I would rather see the staff go the other way with another HS kid. Biliew and Momcilovic will only be here 1-2 years. Would be nice to get a developmental guy that could help retain our culture for a few years while not feeling like he needs to see the floor right away.

Is he a Minny Lean or is that just Minny fans hoping. I have not really looked to much but the Minnesota fans are all about him.

I get it. Everyone you list except the freshmen and Williams are seniors though. Yes…the Covid year is still a thing, but they are seniors.

As for the freshman, the guys who are likely ahead of them for PT today are also seniors this year.

Like I said, I understand the situation with transfers and all, but we are looking at a LOT of roster turnover next year whether there are transfers or not, and the guys who will still have eligibility will be “next in line” guys.

Eh, that's pretty much a thing of the past.
