Is this years' team better than we thought?

“Even out”? You mean…like, we start to have a rash of injuries at one position? The punter drops off? The RB1 has trouble hitting the holes?

ISU is good, not good enough to just show up and win and they might drop some games if/when things don't go as well as they have been.

Time will tell.

“Just” the linebackers.

I’d count how many there’s been, but I stopped at six. There’s no “just” about that.

You also minimized the injuries on the OL, where two guys getting hurt would have totally crippled this team in the past. In years past, a walkon has plugged the first hole—and that’s as far as it went.

And let’s not forget one of our mere three experienced corners getting hurt—or the fact that we somehow survived Darien’s absence filling in with green players.

Yeah, things have already”evened out”. What they haven’t done is to start going swimmingly yet. This team has been winning with hard work and grit.
I stated we have had injuries at both positions, LB and Oline. Overall, all our WR, RBs and QB's have started every game, the Dline is healthy. What hurts us is that almost all our injuries have occurred in the same position group of players, the LB's instead of being spread throughout the team. I really doubt we have had more injuries this season than those in the past, its just that its the same position group that has been hit over and over. No one is doubting the work ethic of the players, and its been a miracle that we have been able to bring in younger players and they are not only holding there own, but flourishing on the field.

My rankings of most to least difficult game on the schedule

1. vs KSU
2. @ Utah
3. vs Tech
4. @ KU
5. vs Cincy
6. vs UCF
Using the Vegas Power Ratings that Phil Steele posts and giving three points for home field, here’s what the lines would be currently:

ISU -0.5 (or PK) at Utah
ISU -5 vs KSU
ISU -7 at Kansas
ISU -11 (or -10.5) vs Cincinnati
ISU -11.5 vs Texas Tech
ISU -12.5 (currently -13.5) vs UCF

After reading the article that posted a few minutes ago, the coaching staff is thinking along the same lines that I have been posting. I guess you could say they are nit picking also

It's just a matter of time before CMC calls you with a job offer...

Tech appears to have a really good offense…and a really bad defense.

That combination usually works out really well for us.

Let’s remember also that Cincinnati at Texas Tech was a three-point win by Tech. Makes sense that those two are power rated about the same.

Iowa State (4-0) 20 - Houston (1-4) 0

Iowa State (5-0) 43 - Baylor (2-4) 21

Iowa State (6-0) 28 - West Virginia 16

UCF (3-3):
UCF comes in struggling and it carries over into a black out night game in Ames. Iowa State runs up the score. Iowa State 40 - UCF 14

#20 Texas Tech (7-1): The Red Raiders come into Jack Trice winning 6 games in a row and face a top-10, rested, Cyclones team on homecoming. Iowa State rolls yet again under the lights. Iowa State 34 - Texas Tech 17

@* Kansas (1-7):
At the beginning of the year, KU was talked about as a team that's going to compete for a conference title. That has been the opposite as they've looked poor horrible so far. They come into this game losing 7 straight and are demoralized. Iowa State 38- Kansas 13

Cincinnati (6-3):
This is going to be the toughest game on Cincinnati's schedule. Iowa State embarrasses the Bearcats. Iowa State 41 - Cincinnati 17

@ Utah (6-4):
After losing Rising for the rest of the year and having lost 3/5 games, Utah gets a top-5 Cyclones team that is firing on all cylinders. I am now changing things up as I've had Iowa State losing this one for the last few weeks. Cyclones continue their undefeated season. Iowa State 24 - Utah 13

#14 Kansas State (9-2): Kansas State comes into Ames at night in a game to go to the Big 12 Championship. No snow in this one, but Iowa State wins in a high scoring back and forth shootout. Iowa State 40 - Kansas State 38
Took last week off due to the bye week but I'm back with my horrible guesses.

Iowa State (4-0) 20 - Houston (1-4) 0

Iowa State (5-0) 43 - Baylor (2-4) 21

Iowa State (6-0) 28 - West Virginia 16

Iowa State (7-0) 38 - UCF 14

Texas Tech (5-3):
The Red Raiders head into Ames as a 2 TD underdog and are playing in front of yet another sold out crowd on Homecoming. They'll be doing so with a struggling defense and an offense in which they don't know who will be under center. Iowa State gets back on track after the bye week and takes care of business. Iowa State 31 - Texas Tech 17

Kansas (2-6): Iowa State takes on Arrowhead Stadium against a talented KU team that just hasn't been able to figure out how to win a close football game. The Jayhawks still can't find it against the Top-10 Cyclones and Iowa State moves to 9-0 on the year. Iowa State 24 - Kansas 20

Cincinnati (5-4):
Cincinnati makes the trek to the state of Iowa in a game where they'll try to fend off a Cyclones squad looking to create history in winning 10 games for the first time ever. They're unsuccessful in doing so as Iowa State rolls forward. Iowa State 30 - Cincinnati 23

Utah (4-6):
Iowa State heads to Utah to play their first true road game in a month and a half. Utah has lost 6 straight and are fighting to get to bowl eligibility but the Cyclones show why they're the best team in the Big 12. Iowa State 27 - Utah 17

#11 Kansas State (10-1): The Wildcats enter Ames in a battle for a Big 12 Championship birth. If they win they're in and the same goes for Iowa State, who's looking to pull off something incredible. An undefeated regular season, a Big 12 Championship appearance, and a statement win to possibly solidify an at-large bid in the College Football Playoff. Iowa State does the remarkable and wins in an instant classic. Iowa State 41 - Kansas State 34 (OT)
