Underwood’s heart wants Manhattan but his head wants Champaign
Curious if the realignment stuff affects it. Illinois will be getting the money to invest in sports compared to KSU. Illinois has so much more potential than KSU, but I do enjoy a coach that will forgo the money. Underwood is a hell of a coach and I'd prefer he stay out of the conference. We don't need this conference any harder than it already is.

Saw an article on a KSU web site that claims Weber will be fired after the big 12 tourney. I realize that they are not having a great year, but besides the theatrics I always thought Weber was a good coach.

Weber can coach. What he fails is consistently recruiting players capable of excelling at the Big 12 level. His players do not develop as they get older. He has had entire recruiting classes where not one player has been around for "Senior Day". He is constantly rebuilding because of this failure

I live in South Central Kansas and I’m reading that he’s out. Attendance is not good. As was suggested,Turgeon would make sense but he’s a KU guy so who knows?

If I’m Kstate I go all in on Brad Underwood, who played there. Likely a long shot but he’s an elite coach.

Side note - wonder how long Devries will be at Drake? Dude can coach.

Seems to me like Underwood is the opposite of Weber (recruits well, isn't great at coaching). Illinois looked stacked this year and has underperformed.

God I hope not I love him at KSU other than him dancing and constantly pointing on the sidelines

The K-State people I know who have been Weber supporters for years seem ready to be done with him.
From their accounts he's a good guy, and I think he'd make a great Doc Sadler-type assistant somewhere if he doesn't want to go down a level to still be a head coach.

He is at retirement age and he's been a HC for so, so long. Has had to have earned a lot of money. If he got canned and still wanted to coach a little you're right, he'd be a great mentor.

Turgeon is a nut job. KSU would be better served looking elsewhere. Tang will likely stay put at BU. KSU should pursue Grant MaCasland of North Texas, also a former Drew assistant.

Just retire and enjoy your millions.
If he's addicted to work, be a 'part-time special assistant' somewhere.

I don't really understand the "can't hire turgeon, he's a kansas guy" argument. Dan McCarney was a hawkeye before the cyclones hired him. Dan Gable was a cyclone before the hawkeyes hired him. I'm sure there are a thousand other successful examples.

Bo Schembechler was a born-and-raised Ohio boy and Buckeyes coach before Michigan called. Woody Hayes was his mentor and the two of them maintained a lifelong friendship.

But...

The story ends with 13 conference championships, so I'm sure Michigan was glad they looked past something relatively petty like that and went out and got the best man for the job.
