Is your trust in CMC lost to fix this offense in 2023 and beyond?

For the of baby Jesus....stop this ****.
Curious, why?

CampbellBall has shown it is easily defended absent an NFL caliber RB.

Either we magically find one this offseason, or other things have to happen.

And if they don't, I hope Campbell leaves.

This is not entertaining football, and wasting this elite defense is disgusting.

I’m pretty comfortable laying most of the blame on the O-Line.
Either A. they aren’t what the coaches are telling them.
Or B. they are doing what they coaches want and it doesnt work.
Or C. they are just bad and the recruiting is the problem.

All of these options lead me to firing the OL coach. And if the OC is in charge of the offense and isn’t correcting it. Then OC needs fires too. Idk who calls plays. But that needs to change as well.

This year has been a major disappointment, but not totally surprising. Seems as though the talent is generally there on offense, but not the type of improvement that one would like to see as the year has progressed.

To be honest, I suppose this year helps all of us appreciate the talent of the players who have recently graduated.

Campbell has fired coaches and overhauled schemes in the past. I think we will be fine, despite this year's massive frustrations. If Manning and Myers are retained and our first play from scrimmage every game next year is a -2 yard rush from shotgun between the center and guard, then come talk to me
What schemes have been overhauled by Campbell? The change in defense in year 2 was Heacock.

Good grief. He has brought us fun and excitement that as Cyclone fans we haven't experienced much of for the past 6 years and now we have a down year and you're ready to step off the ledge.

This guy gets it. Loves him some 4-5 win seasons, because gosh darn it, we've had seasons with less, so we better appreciate it.

I know my boss loves it when I tell him I shouldn't try to improve because the guy before me was worse. He tells me it's infallible reasoning and even gives me a raise every time I remind him!

I was having this conversation with a couple friends over the weekend. CMC has to find a way to transition the overall offensive gameplan to someone other than Manning - perhaps even some new coaching blood in general. CMC has had essentially the same staff for most of his tenure, and on the offensive side it is just not working at this point. This could be an easy fix, but it likely requires CMC to go outside his long time coaching tree.
This hits the nail on the head of my sentiment I was trying to get at with this thread.

In theory I think this is absolutely fixable.

But going back to CMC’s history, when has he been a guy to let go of staff members he’s loyal towards? I haven’t been given the impression he operates this way. He feels as though he will get through hardships with HIS guys.

As touching as that may be, it doesn’t win games.

I like how there’s tons of comments like this. Like the subject is absolutely off limits just because we have such a loser mindset from our history.

If you feel we will fix things, that’s great. I sure hope we do. But to have concerns about where this program is headed is not a ridiculous statement when you watch the product on the field this year offensively. This team executes worse than almost any team I’ve ever seen. This isn’t a talent issue.

I have much love and trust with CMC. He this year will find out why it's best for him and his family to be at ISU. Last year record below expectations, this year uggg and yet nobody is calling for his head on a spear. He does need to make some tough decisions with the OL and Offense overall and for the love of god not so special teams. If he chooses not to make the changes and we continue to perform poorly the radient heat will become extreme fire. Then it becomes an administration issue.

Based on Bruns’ pod, at the very least the staff needs to spend the off-season consulting with bright minds that understand offensive football.

That we’re shooting ourselves in the foot by unnecessarily bringing extra men into the box, not properly teaching zone schemes/using them at appropriate times, and using shotgun when a yard is needed screams that the staff doesn’t understand basic offensive concepts and won’t come to understand independently. It’s the same type of maddening, bush league sh*t Prohm couldn’t handle.

As Bruns said, these issues existed with prior squads too. Moving into the NIL era, we can’t afford to keep somebody for x amount of years too long and risk falling further behind, when we’re already behind. I have faith Campbell will do something, but I don’t have faith that it’ll be enough. Not with the way recruiting is unfolding.

It's not that we are losing it's how we are losing. Its good that we are not hopelessly outclassed from a talent standpoint but its not good at all that we do the same dumb **** game after game. In years past, we have gotten better as the season progressed. The last couple of years that has changed.
Perhaps the run from shotgun on short yardage plays analyst to be hired this summer to shake up the staff will help with this perception.

I'm thinking more and more he couldn't care less if he's in Ames past this year anyway. Id rather have a bottom tier SEC or Big 10 job than coach in the Big 12 in NIL era.
I am thinking even a bottom tier SEC or Big 10 program might be looking for a little more separation between wins and losses in this era of NIL too. I could be wrong though.
