You do not have to be a running QB to run the ball well, and it has nothing to do with your RB's, lol. You have the qb running ball because he is the only unaccounted for person in the backfield most plays and by him running it keeps the defense at home on the back side instead of coming right down the line on a handoff and hitting the back from the side. He currently is running an average of 4 times a game, add five more too that would be plenty.Purdy and especially Johnson are faster than Rocco. Johnson at KSU has been anything but a very good passer lol.
Rocco's not a running QB. He's an elusive QB who is sufficiently athletic to get some yards. I definitely wouldn't want him running more than he needs to, which is the occasional keep on read option and scramble for first downs. It feels like they've struck a nice balance on this.
We have 3 RBs who have shown positive abilities this year and two of the best receivers in school history. We absolutely do not need Rocco to be running more designed runs for the sake of.....what exactly?
Based on his postgame interview, Rocco has been dealing with an injury. I suspect there is a reason they have run him the amount they have to date. I don’t anticipate it increasing, unless they are comfortable putting him and our chances of season-long success at risk. You do not have to be a running QB to run the ball well, and it has nothing to do with your RB's. Johnson from KSU has a QB RTG of 135.6 according to ESPN, Becht is higher at 158. But Becht only has 44 rushing yards to Johnson's 321. Granted Johnson has 44 carries to Becht's 19, but getting a lot more production from those carries also.
No one is saying we want the QB to be the focal point of the offense running the ball. What we want him to do is be enough of a threat to run that it slows down the defense. Just show the QB run enough to slow down the defense, make them unsure if he has the ball or not instead of crashing down because they know he is not going to run the ball.running qbs do get hurt--but WVU has a backup who is just as good as, and has a much higher ceiling than GG.
unless ISU has a qb in the wings just as good as becht, i doubt they do a lot of designed runs when the offense is clicking as is.

I disagree but neither one of us get a vote here.I'd say Becht has run the ball enough.
The running game is generally fine.
Let’s gooooo. We have a solid group of guys. Matt Campbell is the man woooooI may be in the minority here but I honestly think the Cyclones are going to go in there and win by 7-10. I’m on the hype train with what I’ve seen with the defense playing well but more importantly the running game really coming alive. Bring it in WVU, going to run all over them I think and grind it out
lol 7.5. Looking like $100 we’ll spent IMOAnyone remember what the over/under on wins this season was?
