Pittman had 6 points and 4 turnovers. I think that was a pretty good defensive effort on him. I would understand if they showed some bad defense on Bradley, but I think we played pretty well against Pittman.

Held to 6 points on the night, 8 below his average. Yep, we sure played poorly against him last night.

While the overall defense on Pittman was decent, that was a pretty bad lapse depicted in those pictures. Those sorts of lapses have happened before this year as well. Hopefully, the team can clean those up.

Our strategy according to GMac was to shut down Pittman, contain James, and make the freshmen beat us. Good strategy -- unfortunately, one of their fresman did exactly that -- beat us. Great effort by the Cyclones last night.

Not going to disagree we did a great job defending Pittman - although it did help that he turned his ankle in the 2nd half - Bradley on the other hand...

There is one problem...

To the average reader who didn't see the game...they won't know how well we played in the paint. Their knowledge of the game is going to be those images, because that's the story SI is choosing to tell.

Unfortunately, that's true.

LOL! That was Texas' first points of the game. Obviously that 12 year old looking kid didn't watch any more of the game. Maybe he should talk about Pittman's defensive FAIL's when Dendy would just blow right past him and lay it in!

Who gives a **** what this dbag **** writes or puts in his dumb*** 'stills'??

We are Iowa State, for **** sake. We've dealt with this **** our whole lives. We should be used to, and be THRIVING on, the "us-against-the-world" attitude. I'm sick of the "whoa-is-me" bull****.

This is who we are. If any "casual" fan or potential recruit sees this media driven crap and decides it paints a negative light on what we do, thus detering them from "liking" us, **** 'em. I say, "We don't need or want your sorry *** and I don't care if your name is John Wall, Avery Bradley or Harrison Barnes."

It's us against the WORLD ladies and gentlemen. Start growing thicker skin, or pack your **** and head to Iowa City.

We did a good job on Pittman. If I were to rate our defensive through 15 games, I'd say it's been pretty bad. We definitely don't have the mental tenacity to get it done right now.

I agree. Texas is a good team, but ISU has had trouble defending anyone for long stretches. If a player has the ball, all he has to do is keep working and eventually the ISU player will lose concentration and give up the basket. I've seen plenty of instances where two ISU players have trouble stopping an opponent. He just splits the double team and scores. This ISU team gives up more layups than any team I've ever seen. They also don't make teams pay for getting into the paint. A Jared Homan would make a huge impact on this team. I'd rather have Homan than Brackins right now.

I dont' even care that this guy is pokin fun at us, look at his picture at the top lol. If anything I feel bad for the man.
Looks like a boy to me. That being said the pics did show one thing though. Five guys standing around flat footed. Maybe our problem is the athletic budget. Our players have all been given one pair of shoes and told to make them last all season.lol

Yet we only lost the rebound battle 42-38.

There were a few promising things that came out of this game.
1. Improvement in our defense, and rebounding. Maybe we didn't play great defense but we were much improved from any other game this season.
2. Dendy is the tough player we need him to be. I thought Mac was out of his mind subing dendy for Ham, while Pitman was in. But he obveously stepped it up, and many times shut him down. Love the toughness.
3. This team is starting to realize what playing for Iowa State means. The fans showed up and really fueld the fire for this team. I think they really will apreceiate it from now on (guess we'll see how much it influenced them tomarrow.

I was just about to join the bandwagon and say fire mac a week ago, i will eat my words for the time being and say give him a little more time. This team showed its has the potential we all thought they would, Also we realized that they are improveing, hopefully it isn't just a one time fluke. Also i like Mac's love for the game. It doesnt just mean basketball, but teaching thease young men. It took a lot of courage to suspend Colvin, and may have cost us the texas game, but if it keeps him out of trouble unlike mike taylor its a loss for the future.

I would just like to see us stop dribble penetration. We are horrible at that.

I also would like to see better foot work from our inside guys. Other than Hamilton, who is improved, but not really good, we are terrible from a footwork standpoint.
