Lol oh for Christ’s sake, no it doesn’t. Is Dekker’s still going to suit up for Iowa State? No? So it was handled properly.

Don't get me wrong... it's totally unfair to ISU. It's just the facts that this is going to look horrible though.

And if other states did the same thing... you'd see nearly the exact same results from all other teams too. But that's not what happened unfortunately. Only the state of Iowa decided to look into it.

Let me clarify a few things. Below lines up with everything I’ve posted for a couple months now.

  1. ISU had some info that Hunter was underage when some bets were placed.
  2. ISU did not know he bet on ISU Football games.
  3. ISU had some info that he may have bet on other ISU sports.
  4. Rumors about the severity, him doing things under his moms account, etc all leaked from Dekkers talking.
  5. ISU purposely did no digging themselves.
  6. Hughes was added with the assumption there may be significant ramification, but knew no details.
  7. ISU was blindsided today, so much so that they did not even have the canned press releases ready.
  8. Like I said all along, the initial info ISU got was subject to change as the investigation unfolded, and it did.
  9. Compliance still has not received full details, nor will they on specific legal cases.
  10. It has been assumed since early June that things were going to get worse as the investigation unfolded as there was a lot of openness in DCI interviews.
  11. There are expected to be some additional charges possible.

Someone posted a few weeks ago Hunter was hanging around rat’s campus this summer. That now seems more likely and less silly.

That what I was wondering too. Hunter might have a LOT more to worry about than ever playing football again for anyone. If he was placing bets under someone else's name.... he could be in some serious trouble, right?
Yeah....reading that his folks helped...that's also big time "wow.". Reminds me of the old "we let the kids drink in the basement so we know they are safe" parenting.

Like, wouldn't they be like "um, no ...you can't gamble...we sure as heck are not going to be a conspirator".

I kind of feel like the Paniro thread should remain open and stand alone since he's in a different sport that has a high following.
Yeah, Lot of wrestling fans just follow the wrestling forums and won’t post in here

Thanks for the info!

Basically it means.... we're f'ed... and bad.

ISU was blindsided today... so are you saying it was a lot worse than they knew... or just that they didn't know anything would be coming out yet?

So how many current athletes (besides the three named) are we talking about with the ‘additional charges’ possible?

I don’t think so. He will probably accept a plea deal and skip prison, but he should serve time. The damage he did to the university is incalculable.
Prison time for embarrassing an athletic department?

I’d agree if Dekkers was coming back and suiting up, but alas he won’t be. So spare me that bs.
It just seems like a huge disconnect with what this coaching staff, most notably the head coach is preaching to the media and what is going on behind the scenes.

You've already seen some signs of an undisciplined program on the field the last couple years and now this? Not a good look at all for the program, especially at a time when you are finishing dead last in the conference.

The 4 that most everyone else knows about.... Jirehl Brock, Remsburg, Hanika, and Isaiah Lee.

It'll make the news for an evening, but most of the country isn't going to care about this story.
But....each game....cliche shot of combine....tailgate shot....."and Rocco starting as their previous starter...."
