What’s very concerning to me, is that all along we have been told that DraftKings, etc., have safeguards that prevent this. Obviously, something broke down in Hunters case. Another big question is at what point did authorities realize this. He played a full season after he bet on the team. Why was it easy for Hunter to fool authorities for that long?
I don't think telling the truth or denying it has any bearing from a legal standpoint. From a University/NCAA punishment standpoint I also don't think it's going to matter. He's gone either way.And denied it when asked about it. If he comes clean right away, it probably doesnt escalate to this point you would think
Not really. A stain on Dekkers, not Iowa State.Unfortunately this will be a bad stain on ISU across the country. No way to sugarcoat it.
Still unfair that this only happened in the state of Iowa, and to only Iowa and ISU.

Just reading the affidavit, it alleges that his parents were involved. Very disappointing indeed. He was underage, over the new limits, on campus, and concealed it under his mom’s name… while betting on a game he was a backup in. You literally couldn’t add anything else to make it sound more ridiculously stupid.
I think most fans understand betting is rampant so the only thing that would make them notice this more is that he was stupid enough to bet on his own games. I think that will follow him more than it will Iowa State. That’s with the caveat there aren’t additional individuals charged with similar offenses.Unfortunately this will be a bad stain on ISU across the country. No way to sugarcoat it.

According to Iowa Courts Online, the offense occurred November 7, 2021 and the OSU game was Oct. 23. It could mean that it happened on various occasions and the one in particular cited in the complaint happened on November 7, it could be that that is when he allegedly tampered with records or something else. It also said the DCI agent who cited him is out of Diamond Jo Casino.
More seriously for Hunter, it is an aggravated misdemeanor, which carries up two years in prison.
I agree somewhat... but I don't think the media will play it that way. They will pile on ISU and the football program. This is pretty bad. And we haven't even gotten to the other key starters yet.
I don’t think so. He will probably accept a plea deal and skip prison, but he should serve time. The damage he did to the university is incalculable.Prison would be outrageous.
He should certainly be done at ISU though. And probably in the NCAA in general.
When you sell yourself as a 5 Star Culture the vultures will circle when you don't live up to that.
