All that was known though, wasn't it? The point of my question is why, aside from Dekkers, all these guys are being withheld from practice. Withholding them from games would make sense, but no NCAA potential suspension should affect their ability to practice, should it?
Sounds like info is still being discovered and gathered. It's a shame that the DCI is dragging this out.

My best guess is Campbell and staff are focused on getting the guys they know are eligible ready for the season. Anything else is a distraction. Just a guess though. I would be very surprised if the guys mentioned are sitting on their asses during all of this.

It's interesting to see how the staff in IC is handling this. They either aren't worried about the charges or don't care. We know Shannon is involved, and chatter on their boards is that one or two more starters are involved at some level. But it seems to be all systems go over there while our guys have effectively disappeared from the team.

I don't think we know the details of how much or on what these guys bet on. I would think that the football team has some idea, but who knows if they actually have facts from the DCI. Until you know a guy is going to be able to play this year, why would you want him at camp.

I thought this too, but the shock by both coaching staffs and athletic departments after the crime part of this came out tells me they don't know as much as I thought they did.

It is interesting philosophy on both sides. On the one hand, if any of the iowa players are suspended for half a season or more, those are essentially wasted reps that could have gone to another player. On the other, if any of the ISU players are suspended 1 game or less, you are in effect making it a 2 or 3 game suspension with the time it takes for those players to get back up to speed.

I don't know how many reps the players in IC are getting but I would think a good middle ground would be to have the guys take reps with the 3rd team. That way they're still practicing, still getting work on technique with their position coaches, etc. while also getting the players who will be playing week 1 the reps they need.

Yep. Or Dordt, Grandview or William Penn.
Ironically, just this morning I heard a rumor (from someone that knows the family) that Hunter met with the football staffs at Morningside & Dordt and he's leaning towards going to Dordt. That'd keep him crazy close to home. I really thought he'd attempt to get out of the area and start fresh someplace further away. We'll see...

The open practice is this Saturday in IC, so close attention will be paid to who is partaking and who is not.

Because you don't think this will cost him his entire season and you want him to be ready when his suspension is done? So he can be there to prepare his backup(s)? To show young guys that when you make a mistake you have to earn your way back?

In my mind, the only reason it makes sense NOT to have them in practice is that you know you're going to boot them from the team when the investigations are complete, but you're waiting for the final word.

My guess is both programs know the extent to which their programs will be impacted and are preparing their teams as such.

Translation: Iowa State is in much worse shape

Some Iowa fan had posted on here that a couple starting DBs were going to miss some time and they were in a video practicing. So I don't know how much it will tell you.

All I know is they quit pumping out post practice photographs of the practices this year as they had done in prior years. I believe this is the reason why. I am not sure if they are practicing. If Shannon is not dressed Saturday, that would tell me anyone involved is not practicing and then you look at who else is not dressed and or not there.

Has not been any practice vids of the starting d backfield that I am aware of.

Apparently the practice photo thing is a staffing deal.

Both of the starters that were mentioned are also in this video.

Rumor now is that Lee is done, and that might be true for the rest of them too.
The rumor has always been the four upperclassmen are done. Their entire final year of eligibility is lost. Dekkers was the only one who had the potential for a redemption, but that thought was before we knew he gambled on a ISU game he was eligible to play in.

Morningside, Dordt, and Northwestern would all be good choices for a number of reasons. They're right in his backyard and are solid programs with good profiles and visibility - as good as you can expect for NAIA, anyway.

But frankly, Morningside and Northwestern do just fine already, so I'm not sure why they'd take a chance on a known knucklehead.

Talk about being a big fish in a small pond. Seems like Dekkers would be bored out of his mind in Sioux Center.

I would agree if you think it is going to be a one or two game suspension. If you think these players, all seniors, are going to be suspended for 6 games or maybe not even play then maybe that is a different situation. I don't know what is likely to happen, but I find it funny that everyone is questioning how CMC is handling the situation. He obviously knows more than us about the situation and he is doing what he thinks is best for the team.

Hunter Dekkers has also thrown zero interceptions in camp - what are his Heisman odds? Seriously, he'd really like to know...

I'll place my bet (sic) on Dekkers. He'll be undefeated this season.

I can't say that about Sanders.

Ok, but I keep seeing people say they are holding out hope that “Brock will be suspended 6 games” or “Lee will be suspended 1 game”, etc.

Those things aren’t happening.
