What's the deal? Consistently shutting people down. Texas gets zip in the final 4+ minutes. OU only scores on 3 possessions in the final 5 minutes.

Rather salty.

Resting McKay with 5:20 left was the key, he'd taken a lot of blows from people and the floor and was gassed. Came back with the huge put-back dunk and two big blocks inside 3 minutes.

I thought we played exceptional D for most of the first half as well. OU was just hitting the difficult shots we gave them.

Sometimes it takes some luck. OU misses a lot of shots late that would have went in during the first half.

The D was key in helping the conference POY stink the place up.

If we double the KU post to start the game I'm going to scream. Our defense picked up in 2nd half because we stopped doubling the post and OU shooters were covered. Same for ku..Seldon and Mason need to not be left alone today. If Ellis scores inside so be it. I hate it when we double post...Hate.

Some of the best half court D all year. Our switches were beautiful to watch keeping them out of the paint. Having Jameel being so quick, long with endless energy and his ability to get back and recover so quickly is like poetry in motion, and it seems to be spreading with other guys on the team.

Our defense was good pretty much all game against OU.

Yes it was. All the stats re: our poor D average the entire season. I'd like to see the stats since McKay became a starter. At this point, we're much better than the season stats. Additionally, we're gaining more and more defensive focus in each game. As usual for Fred's teams, we're starting to peak with more positive adjustments each game. Unfortunately, based on the Baylor game yesterday, KU seems to be doing the same. Should be one heck of a game.

So we are an NBA team, Im ok with that if we keep winning

I was going to say the same. Nba teams crank the defense up the last few minutes. I think this is catching many teams of guard. Shots they had open earlier are now closed down and scrambling to find different shots.

After the last four years I don't think it's a coincidence that Fred's teams peak offensively and the defensive intensity improves in March.

I'm not sure he cares all that much about D until this point in the season and it seems to be working so far.

If you look back at CFH tenure this happens this seems to happen in a number of games. Keep teams close then make an adjustment they were not expecting, hope they cannot correct it and shut them down.

It is interesting how razor thin the margin for error is this time of year (or in the Big 12 in general). ISU played pretty good D against OU, but it could have all been wiped out by one lapse on the last play.

Also, it would be interesting to read this thread in the parallel universe where Spangler makes the layup...
