Wasn't Stanford 31 point dogs last year? And it was AT USC. I think that's the bigger upset.

I love College Football.

To equal OSU upset, we will have to take down Missouri- which could happen. The problem is we were not good enough before. OSU is not the greatest team but are talented enough to pull off these kind of upsets. ISU was talented to pull off upsets against teams like Colorado and Kansas St. This year we are more talented and should have more of chances to pull off upsets. I think some of the other issues will get cleaned up as the season moves on and this team will again play it's best in November.

After ISU came out "flat" against UNLV I looked this game up and the point spread started at 38 went to 41 and settled at 39, the biggest upset in college football history by the spread. Michigan/Appl. State was only 24.

I think the complaints about Chizik not having the team ready are bogus. Every team has down games, no coach has ever had the team at full potential every game.

Agreed. These guys have been playing football for at least six years, junior high through high school. They were likely one of the top few players on their team if they are playing D1 ball now. They should be able to get themselves ready to play.

Oregon State has had some continuity in the coaching ranks. That isnt just the 2nd time they've played USC/Pete Carrol before. Once chiz gets a few years in here, then maybe next year you could expect a major upset.

Furthermore id be inclined to believe the since USC is annually loaded and scholarships are limited, a good portion of the Pac 10 gets its share of guys that were good enough but couldnt go to USC. So while "they" claim the pac-10 is weak this year, im sure its still exceedingly talent ladden.

The B12 has OU AND Texas to fight over the real elite athletes, so I'd guess that usually does the rest of the B12 a disservice.

The bigger question is why are we looking up to Kansas??? KANSAS!!!! Remember them, the one school in the old Big 8 with a worse football tradition than us. (Don't even start on Missouri). Who would have thought that we would be hoping for an UPSET win over Kansas....

I was in DC for a meeting today and set next to a guy from Iowa City. I fully expected him to be anti Iowa State. To the contrary, he raved about how much better ISU is looking and how the program is headed in the right direction.

Kansas may not have a winning football tradition, but they sure have a winning basketball one. I don't think it's nearly as hard for a fanbase to translate from one winning sport to another. That sort of excitement generates a lot of revenue...

As far as ISU-OSU goes, I honestly think this ISU team has enough talent that if they were to execute well, we could beat pretty much anyone in the Big 12 on any given Saturday.

Right now, though, we have young coaches, young players and a whole lot of learning to do. Give us a few years, and while we may not be on top of the conference, we won't be a whipping boy either.

We beat Thurman Thomas and OSU in about 0 degree wind chill one year. What do you want, for something like this to happen every decade?:wideeyed:
