Ive about hit kids running across the street in the dark after games too. I feel bad for all parties here.

Prayers for the family of the kid hit as well as the guy who hit him.

Probably lucky there arent more accidents with the mess of pedestrian and vehicle traffic after games. Really could use a tunnel or something near S-16th to get rid of the mix of traffic there, and also improve traffic flow out of stadium parking lots and on university (as officers wouldnt have to be stopping traffic for long periods just for crowds to go across)

There are an exorbitant amount of people that have died in Ames by being hit by vehicles (cars, trains, buses). Odd and sad.

At least an elevated walkway or two. I recall this subject was brought up at one time, and a city or ISU official called them "ugly." I dunno, lots of campuses have them...

Yeah, and it all depends how you build them. I could see an elevated walkway near south 16th with the south side being a 'welcome to iowa state' gateway to incoming traffic.

Though people might be more likely to put the tunnels to use than the bridges.

man, driving on/near campus is horrible. So many people walking out into traffic. After football games its worse. You look down for a half of a split second and something like this happens. I hit a kid on his bike with about 100 different things going on around me. Thank God he was ok. Its so nerve racking and frustrating!!

Saw the scene as we were driving to get home after the game last week. It happened by the Christian school.

Hard to believe cars were driving very fast as traffic usually crawls in that area after a game.

Terrible and sad news.

Hey guys, I appreciate all the kind works. I am Jonathan Brown's brother in-law. My wife is his sister. I got us tickets for last weekends game and took him and my other brother in-law and his kid. It was a horrible scene. I saw everything happen. We have no idea where that car came from. Go to www.carepages.com/carepages/jonathanbrown and make a username to see his progress over the last week. Our family updated his status a couple times a day. Im so sad to see him go, but we know he's in a better place now.

Just read through the updates, and I'm kind of recovering right now. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. Wow - Jonathan could be saving five lives by donating his heart, liver, pancreas, and both kidneys to 2 adults, 2 children, and one teen. What a tremendous legacy.

The driver is a very good friend of mine. He's a member of the military, highly responsible, and an all-around good guy. As police reported, he wasn't speeding, and alcohol wasn't a factor in the accident; neither of those surprised me. He's hurting a lot right now.
