If you would rather go a legal route, you can do a 7 day free trial of Playstation Vue, use the credentials to log into WatchESPN, then you are golden. So its two years later and if you live out of state you're faced with the same disaster. BTW, I live in the heart of SEC country and LHN is not available AT ANY PRICE on Spectrum cable.
So I am left with a subscription to cyclones.tv that doesn't buy me much in this case. Reduced to streaming the game via some bootleg website from Eastern Europe. Great. Thanks again Jamie.

I look forward to seeing you on the new Guantanamo Bay inmate listThanks for the tip--appreciate it.
I may choose to be an Anarchist on this and just wait for the black helicopters to arrive.
It will probably go out on SaturdayOne of the handful of times of the year I'm actually happy I have mediacon
My plan is to binge watch Gray is the new Gold on Netflix until ~ 11 pm.When I checked the schedule and clicked on "verify your access" on WatchESPN for the ISU @ Texas game, it redirects to a DirecTV login. The other ESPN games, when I do the same, ask for a cable provider. Not feeling great about this one.
So you still have fans that want to watch your team that stinks and you find a way to not let them? Great marketing plan.
I guess that we will just spend our Saturday not watching the Cyclones lose like we usually do. They don't make it that easy to stay invested in this program.
It seems the root of the issue is the IP origin. How difficult is it to change your IP to an Iowa location? Luckily, I'll be in Polk County and streaming via Cy.tv, living the good life.
But if you've purchased a subscription to Cy.tv and you happen to be outside the state, I don't think that gives the cowmen in Austin the right to bully us Cyclone fans around...
Wrong. ISU had to agree to this for it to be on Tier 3. If ISU simply said no, this game is on ESPN or FS1.It's not up to us. This is a Texas HOME game. They have the tv rights to it, and we are lucky they let us put it on CY.tv in the first place. This has nothing to do with our marketing plan.
I'm sure one stipulation they have to LET us put it on CY.tv is that we only show it in Iowa. They don't want Cyclone fans in other areas of the country getting access without LHN (skipping their network and putting their content on another teams platform).

Yeah well you're wrong. The home team does not get the rights to conference games like they do non conference games. Big 12 TV contract gives both conference teams rights to this game, and both have to agree to move it to Tier 3. ISU wants this game on Cy TV so they can increase its brand.I believe that to be false. ESPN and Fox get to filter through the games and pick them up as either one declines. If ESPN and Fox decide to let the LHN air the game (remember the LHN is funded by ESPN) ISU has no say. It's a Texas home game. They have the rights to air it.
Sure we could refuse. We refuse to play the game?. If the game is going to be played... its on the LHN. Texas gave us the OK to broadcast how we do and we accepted.
The answer to this problem is to get good at the sport of football. Then some other team falls to third tier on the LHN.

That is exactly right(except your last paragraph). The Big 12 TV contract says that each team gets one game on their third tier except for Texas who gets two games. Regardless, ISU HAS to agree to it. Read this from 2014...So what you are saying is... this game could be on ESPN (whatever channel) or Fox (whatever channel), but we decide to play on the LHN and Cy.TV to increase our brand? Really?
Agree to disagree. Home team has rights if the game falls to third tier and this one did.
This happens once every 2 years. Is it really that big of a deal? Sheesh. So you still have fans that want to watch your team that stinks and you find a way to not let them? Great marketing plan.
