I think isu wins fairly easily, but holy hell if they lose this....it's a huge game in that regard, the consequences for a loss would not be good

Testifying
I thought Ohio’s QB was out, but he was back last week and UO beat Tom Herman’s new team. My confidence is less now, teams getting key personal back, in what is probably Ohios biggest home game in awhile, against a young offense, young OC. D and special teams need to be legit. Gotta have this one, a loss would be really, really bad.
If this is their biggest home game in a while thats sad because I got tickets and parking super easy and cheap thru the university.

Ohio is a good Mac team. I think we'll win and our offense will get back on track. 35-14 Iowa State Wins.

Defense will look good and I think our offense will look fine. Problem is that Ohio's defense is just bad. What I want to see is for us to get our young QB some confidence. For crying out loud, look at Brock's first game at ISU against OSU... Do you know what we didn't do? Limit him. We let him make plays and were willing to roll with the mistakes because that's how it should be. Having Rocco stand in the pocket is dumb and is what honestly limited Purdy's ability from year to year. Look at him now, running around, having fun and his coaches are trusting him not to take a dumb hit and get injured.

What is the "badness" of Ohio's defense based on? So far this season, they allowed:

  • 20 to San Diego State
  • 10 to Long Island (FCS, I think)
  • 10 to FAU
I've only looked at scores so there might be more to the story, but that's not terrible. Admittedly, not great competition it seems.

I wouldn’t call it backyard lol, more like the holler. It’s a little jaunt to Athens. I’m not going down there. I have been to the campus though to help love a neighbor down there for school and it is a really pretty place. I’m pretty much a stay-at-home fan these days unless I have a perfect/super convenient setup.
???

Not sure we can classify Ohio's defense as "just bad". They've allowed 13 points a game and 251.7 total yards per game. Not great competition, but still.

Yeah I meant my statement more as if we do well on offense, it may be just because Ohio’s defense isn’t good. I looked at their numbers too and right now have zero clue what to expect. SDSU’s offense isn’t very good, you can’t take away anything from the Long Island game and who knows on FAU.

My point that I didn’t word well is that I’m expecting an uptick in offense IF Ohio’s defense is bad. If theyre not bad, yikes. Could be a long game.

I looked briefly at the SDST and FAU games.

SDSt
only had 10 total possessions and 65 total plays (incl FG and punts). 10 drives => 2 FG, 2 TD, 3 punts, a fumble, a missed FG, and then ran the clock basically out. They ran for 5 ypc.

FAU
ran it only 12 times, but had Casey Thompson (yes that one) throw it 43 times!
that got them 3 sacks, 2 picks
FAU did run it well and effectively vs Monmouth in week 1, whatever a Monmouth is.

I would guess ISU will have a bit more success than SDSt - bigger and faster but similar style. I don't see ISU going 80% pass to 20% run ratio like FAU. Take road game into account, ISU gets 23-24 points?

Defense should hold them to less than that. ISU by 6-7, unless they get a pick 6 or something. This is not a terrible Ohio team, and they are playing their first home game. ISU is bigger, faster, better, but this is not a "show up and win" game. Gotta play a "B" game at least.
