This baffles me as well. Some family member of mine (I can't remember who) showed me the statue and explained who he was when I was just a little boy

It's funny isn't it. There are a lot of people who don't care about sports at ISU, that group probably has a lot of correlation with ISU students on reddit. (Even though I'm and ISU sports fan on reddit.)
Really they should still know it since it is much more than a sports story.

I don't think it gets as much attention in the state of Iowa as it should.

It doesn't get nearly the attention that it should. However how do you play it up without looking like the little kid always needing attention? Better to the the story tell itself then to push it out there. Educate and it will eventually get around to those that care.

The students that don't know probably have also never been to a game.

Many of them who said that later mentioned they were Hawk fans. Sports fan or not, there is no excuse as an ISU student/alum to not know about Jack Trice.

Since we're discussing our school uniforms, thoughts on these? Based on the uniform Jack Trice wore in the 29s, who is the namesake of our stadium and first black player at Iowa State. : CFB
