They are supposedly getting some new guy from out of state to do the mornings. I think Metinka must have been getting tired of it in the interim because I was surprised to see Jason on there this morning too.
i thought jason parkin was better than brian. At least I didn't have to listen to Jason talk about his dog all the time. Same goes for John M. I want to hear the weather, not about your latest flight or your new helicopter.

Bryan accepted a position in Minnesota in May, then the position was eliminated, and he had given notice at KCCI and was out of a job, because they had hired a replacement for him. He said on the air, he was burnt out with the early morning hours and was going to take a break from TV for awhile. He said he had some options to do somethings in DSM.
It was too bad when Jason was let go, he was/is very good. IIRC, his layoff was strictly handled by Hearst in New York. They told the management at KCCI that Jason was being let go. John Mc. was quite ticked and I remember him stating is displeasure in the DMR. I wish they could bring Jason back on the weekend evenings. Not that I don't like Kurtis, but Jason just seemed to be the right fit with the weekend crew, and Kurtis a better fit with the people at noon and five.
Is he still clearing his throat a lot? It seems like he's been doing that for the last 4 years, or so. At first I always thought he just had a cold, but now I wonder if its something else.
Yeah...I don't know what's going on with that. Seems to have started about 4 yrs ago as you said and it hasn't really gone away since. The other night I was watching and he had to stop for about 5 seconds and compose himself....said something about he should have drank some water beforehand.
John McLaughlin does a good job with radar, but I don't think there is what I would call a really good forecaster in the DSM market. WHO is well....WHO. WOI is a little better than WHO. KCCI wins basically by default. There hasn't been a really good meteoroligist in Central Iowa since Vince Miller worked at WOI thirty years ago. How many of the current on air weather people in Central Iowa could plot a skew T ?
Yeah, it seems like he always has a little tickle in his throat and can't say a few sentences without some light coughing. I haven't watched him in awhile since I don't live in central Iowa anymore, but whenever I do, he's always clearing his throat. Hopefully, its nothing serious.
Uh...I'd have to know what that is to answer that question...:wideeyed:
EDIT: I looked it up and I'm still pretty sure I don't know what it is.
Ditto - I agree, I thought he did a nice job. I was hoping they'd hire him back to replace Brian, but they hired a guy from Grand Rapids.
