Welcome Jayden!!!

We share pretty much the same stats in terms of height and weight. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure our bodies look much different. :(

Funny story about this. I remember a kid who was a RB recruit who was about this size and was being rejected for a high-adventure trek (Boy Scouts) on the basis of BMI. Dude was jacked and clearly more physically capable than just about anyone.

I too am now roughly 5'10' 217 and not in a good way haha

His running style reminds me of Breece. Averaged over 9 yards per carry as both a Senior and a Junior.
Yeah...I expected a HS version of Skateboo but he is more like Breece. There's some of him bouncing off of guys but I was surprised by his burst and how little he's caught from behind given his build. He's not lightning fast but he has really good feel and vision (can't be taught) and I think this is one of those really good late pickups.

Nice addition! I'm curious, since we got this kid and a new RB commit for next year, if there's gonna be a RB transferring out that the coaches know about. Or maybe we are no longer the frontrunner to land Favour Akih? @Aclone what are your thoughts?

I think they were probably looking but couldn't spend in the portal and with 5 guys it probably doesn't make sense to spend there so they waiting and found this guy. They also could have had this guy in their back pocket for the late period and just told him they'd take him. Anyway, 6 of them is a great number.

That could be. I'm kinda thinking one of our RBs is gonna transfer out. Dylan Lee maybe? He got passed up on the depth chart by Flora, a walk-on, so it's a possibility.

Another great recruiting job by staff. I always wonder how a recruit with these physical, statistical and award descriptions fall between the cracks. Academic or other non-sport issues possibly? Texas Tech & BC offers are good to see. B. Hall similarities but Hall was a highly sought recruit, hard to believe CMC got him to Ames and KSt/KU missed.

From same Hudl page (thanks, Naddafinga):

  • RB, OLB
  • 6'0" 215lbs
  • 4.43
  • 185lb Bench, reps 5
  • Squat, 465
Myself, I'm already a fan of 2025 RB signee Ryven Peppers. And now, with Jayden Jackson on board, I am thrilled with our 2025 RB class. But, maybe that's just me. heh

BTW, the link above includes 2024 season highlights.
The 185 bench reps seems extremely low for that size. I could do more than that in high school when I weighed 150 lbs. Plenty of the bigger football players could knock out 5+ at 225lbs.

Don't think kansas state and kansas are much more attractive than us. I.
would say we are pretty similar. I could see with our coaching staff and fan support might be enough to swing the decision. Also k u facilities were not that great when Breece was recruited.

I would be worried if he was coming in as a linebacker. That squat number is crazy though.

Speed, too? Hudl states 4.43; hope that's accurate, but if not he's still plenty good.
My question is, how was time time collected? Self-reported by the player? Reported by a coach or trainer? Hand timed at some summer camp? Electronic at a much more sophisticated camp? Was he running on a track, field turf, real grass?

Not that stars and rankings matter and we know Campbell will make them a 5 * but how does a running back out of Texas with those stats have that low of a ranking?

Not to go down the Hunter Deyo rabbit hole... but could it be academics?

Regardless, this seems like a great pick up, low risk high reward.

Sorry, I’ve been mostly out of the loop lately. I’ll try to address some of the thoughts in this thread.

*We’ve been running with four RB’s on scholarship lately. That’s a bit risky. I’m assuming that the scholarship limit bump means that an additional slot is allocated to RB. At least.

*I’m expecting Aiden Flora to either be put on scholarship or transfer. He has Breece (or Abu) level athleticism. A high school QB, if he can harness that…well, ‘nuff said.

*If he “played over” Dylan Lee, it’s either because his unique talents suited those spot moments (he still redshirted, after all)—or we’re going to find out the Spring that Dylan was dinged up.

*Speaking of “dinged up”, Carson definitely was. For reference, in high school Abu ran a 10.84 100m. Carson ran a 10.85. Did they look the same?

Btw, Flora ran a 10.62, iirc.

*In any case, with Carson dinged up, and Abu just a bit out of kilter, if both get fixed, they could have huge seasons this fall.

*And one or both be off to the NFL. Which is what this roster composition—including hopefully adding Akih—is setting up for.

*For those of you wondering, Franklin (TX) not only counts as “small school” for the state, it’s literally out in the middle of the iikes of College Station, Waco, etc. Much like how hardly anyone generally looks at Brett Eskikdsen’s modest-sized school, even though that one is in a population center.

*I kinda feel like CMC asked his staff, “Hey, we’ve got one scholly to burn, who’s the best left on our list?”

*DM or Kareem Hunt level seems closer than Breece.

*I’d expect both he and Ryver Peppers to redshirt. Er…’26 is going to be fun!
