I don't think we'll get a 1 seed (obviously) but those two guys are right that our compared to the other candidates for the 1 seed, our resume is equal or better in a lot of ways. The only one that I think might have a step over us, is Michigan because they won the conference. I also think that if you put our resume with Duke or Kansas's name on it, there wouldn't be a question that they'd get a 1 seed.

All of that being said, it is darn cool to even have teams mention us for that. It's really great that we'll get at least a 3 seed and we have an outside shot at a 2 seed.

It has been a pretty great weekend!

Put our resume up against Duke & Wisconsin, I'll argue all day that Iowa St. looks better, and should be ahead of these teams.

But the difference between Iowa St. and teams like KU, Villinova, Virginia, & Michigan, is they were all regular season champions in their conference, and the committee will reward them for that.

My opinion, Virginia should get the last #1. Yeah they didn't have the toughest schedule within the ACC, but they beat the teams in front of them, and they proved their toughness by winning the tournament. However, I fear they may get treated like Iowa St in 2000. Should be a 1, but the committee gives it to a name school.

Then I'd say KU, Villinova, & Michigan should be 2's. With Iowa St, Duke, & Wisconsin battling for the final 2 spot.

It doesn't matter if they emphasize total resume, "eye test", or "momentum", we deserve a #2 seed and a chance to remit our Hampton performance from '01. Look at Duke from the three dimensions above and with their loss today to Virginia tell me they deserve a better seed than ISU. With Wisconsin's losses down the stretch to Neb. and MSU I think they are weaker #2 as well. KU with embid is probably in the same range, especially with 3 losses in last five including to ISU and @WVU.

THAT ALL SAID, I agree with others who have said that it doesn't really matter if we are a #2 or #3, matchups and teams in our portion of the bracket are much more important.

I'm really holding out to see Iowa slide down to play one of those "last four in" play-in games as an #11 seed though I don't think that'll happen unless there is a heavy reliance on end-of-season performance.

Stewart Mandel ‏@slmandel 19s Interesting. RT @marchmadness: Update from the #Selections Room: Committee is working off 2 contingencies right now. #SelectionSunday
So, likely about the outcome of MSU-UM game. If UM wins, it means they are likely a 1-seed (which is the typical BIG reach), which may also pull ISU into a two-seed. If MSU wins, I think they go BIG with Wisconsin and UM 2-seeds, and bump MSU up to a 3-seed, perhaps at the expense of ISU.

how does he even know that? so he would know the bracket before it's released?!!!

Talking to people on the committee. @MarchMadness is the official March Madness twitter from the NCAA. He doesn't have a bracket, just the committee saying that there ARE two different ones they are working off of.

Probably means if Michigan wins they are a 1. If Michigan looses, then Virginia is the last #1. This would make the must sence to me. And my guess is, the rest of the field is basically set.

It's not that simple. You just can't switch two teams. You have to go through all of the bracketing principles after you are done. So it is easier to have a bracket for if Mich loses and one for if they win so that you just use the one based on the outcome.

As for which team gets the #1 seed, you are probably right.

Michigan down 15 now. How can you possibly give them a number 1 seed.

Really don't want to see Mich St anywhere near us. I don't see ISU beating them, like KU with Embied.

So Wichita State will be the only 1 seed that won their conference tournament if UK and MSU win. Assuming UM would still be one, which they won't. Virginia should be a 1. I would not mind a 3 or a 4, because I believe we can beat anybody and will play harder against the named teams. I would give up a seed for location for you great fans. Dropping to a 4 and being shipped to the coast would be typical though. I think our team would be better served with a chip on it's shoulder rather than a target.

I love it. Cool to hear but it's probably not going to happen. We are probably a 3.
I really hope we get a good region/location... And to watch these kids fight another fight. Winning is a habit this team has.
