I have no idea if Clyburn is coming or not and if Boylan is connected to him or not in a recruiting sense. I don't even know if he is a good fit. He is a good coach w/ a decent track record IMO. Many people know of him and he was rumored to have nearly landed several jobs last March including Iowa before withdrawing
Boylan was an assistant under Jud Heathcoate and Tom Izzo. He also worked in the NBA under Rudy T in Houston and won 2 NBA rings as an assistant w/ the Rockets. Later, he was on the staff of the Warriors and the Bucks. Jim Boylan sits down w/ elite NBA Coaches and collegiate staffs and is not out of place at the table. Most feel he was jobbed in Salt Lake.
He did what I thought was a nice job at Utah winning a conference title, a conference tourney title and 1 NCAA bid in his four years. Having first hand knowledge of that program, I can assure you that it was gutted by his predecessor. Utah is a proud hoops school who is desperate to right the ship as it goes to the Pac 12. I find it hard to believe that Larry Kristowiak will do any better but I wish him well.
He is a Michigan native and has deep ties to the state. Had we done any search at all last year (I am glad we did not- we would have hoped that he might have been at least considered)
He is so much more accomplished Keno Davis it is beyond silly to most NBA types-IMO
