I've asked before and don't believe I got much of an answer...where is the depth? Is it talented depth or just multiple legit D1 level players at a few positions?
We have some talented depth at just about every position. The one that scares me is RB, only because Sanders hasnt been what they thought hed be, and Norton hasnt been healthy

My couch fan intuition told me he wasn't exactly open to coaching and was had a bit of deer in headlights in him.
Yep, agreed. And I'm not sure if it was play calling or what, but he really struggled when the defense didn't do exactly what they were supposed to do. I feel like he didn't know how to read a defense really at all, and he also didn't have good pocket presence. When our OL is bad, that just doesn't work out well.

Our route tree combinations and overall inability for our WRs to create space (outside of X of course) was a huge problem as well. So it wasn't just Hunter, but even when our WRs did get open and our OL did block correctly, he missed numerous open receivers for throws that just weren't there.

If our RB room isn't healthy, I think we HAVE to utilize the big JUCO QB and get him in there for some Lanning/Belldozer type packages.

It was encouraging to see a couple QB sneaks at the spring game. Dont believe I saw one with Manning calling plays ever

This seems like one of those games where people pick the upset or say it will be close. Which just gives UNI the kiss of death and Clones beat them by 28 points.

I'll take that over the predictions of ISU by 4 TDs, rest the starters, etc. and it's a one possession game the whole time.

It's a big if, but IF our offense can come out and score a couple quick TDs, the game is cooked. When you allow UNI to stay in the game and think they can win is when it gets scary.

I think Farley also ****ing hates ISU and will have his group on edge for the poaching of his Oline guy.

The first game isn't generally an indication of the season on the whole but it would be nice if the 'reset' for ISU came out hitting the ground running.
He definitely hates ISU,

UNI always seems like a game that is important with scoring quick and making a cushion. Manning always seemed to call the game as a ball control, keep the mistakes down, and slow. leading to the game still being "close" into the 2nd half.

my hope is Scheelhaase calls some big plays and gets as many points on the board as possible in the first quarter. If Iowa State can get points in their first 3 drives while making UNI go 3 and out or even force a turnover. It should be a fun game. I may have been drinking too much of OL koolaid but I think we should be able to move the ball better on the ground vs last year. I also think Scheelhaase will call a better game when opponents stack the box to stop the run.

I really want to see Rocco get out of the pocket on designed plays where he can make a play using his feet.
