UNI always seems like a game that is important with scoring quick and making a cushion. Manning always seemed to call the game as a ball control, keep the mistakes down, and slow. leading to the game still being "close" into the 2nd half.

my hope is Scheelhaase calls some big plays and gets as many points on the board as possible in the first quarter. If Iowa State can get points in their first 3 drives while making UNI go 3 and out or even force a turnover. It should be a fun game. I may have been drinking too much of OL koolaid but I think we should be able to move the ball better on the ground vs last year. I also think Scheelhaase will call a better game when opponents stack the box to stop the run.

Buddy with the OL coach going against his former boss as his first opportunity to showcase the new violent OL, I bet we run the ball for 180-200 yards

I enjoy how many casual non-educated fans come out on these forums. Yes, if you look specifically at wins and losses, we sucked. However, if you want to publicly show how little you paid attention to last year, then yes keep doing what you are doing.

Here are the facts-
We had the 4th youngest team in the ENTIRE NCAA. Very inexperienced
We had the 103rd ranked offense. Very bad

However, even with all of that being terrible, we had opportunities to win 8 games. In fact we were only 17 points away from winning 8 games. And had we won 8 games, nothing would have changed.

Last year was a blessing in disguise, and I will die on this hill.
Here are the positives that have come from last year.
-New Offensive coordinator that has former P5 football experience, and had success at a high level
-New offensive line coach-I believe this will be one of the most underrated hires this year
-And FINALLY a ST coordinator

*I think Dekkers being gone also helps the team. Kid was a nightmare between the ears

I'm not sitting here saying we all need to book tickets to the rose bowl, but there is no doubt in my mind that 6 wins is achievable
Seriously, thanks for your thoughts backed with facts.

Mannnnn, i think we steal one at home against TCU. Also, Iowa still has BF. Its not like they got that much better
I think Iowa is going to roll out a whole new offense with >75% of plays being shotgun.

Not saying that'll make them any better, but I just suspect a big change from them.

Iowa's HC is still the same so I don't see them changing their basic offense from what has worked for him in his career which is conservative ball control, strong defense and a great punting game. I would guess the transfer Michigan QB will fit in that style offense or they would never have encouraged his transfer.

They will play out their ass, no doubt. This is an especially big one for Kirk and he knows it.

Which ISU really wasn't that great at, and it played right into what UNI wanted and a weird approach.

Got an athletic advantage? Use it.

There is absolutely no point in him practicing right now if he's out 6 games. He'd be taking away reps from guys who are actually going to see the field before mid October.
I don't really get Campbell holding guys out of fall camp. If you want to get other guys more reps then give them the bulk of reps. Despite being in his 5th year Brock really doesn't have a ton of carries. Idk. Not allowing these guys to be at camp at all doesn't make sense to me.

I actually don't expect much change, just for them to do it a little better.

He doesn't have a ton of carries but he's a veteran player who I'm sure will be able to jump into things easily if/when he's able to play again. I'm not sure if it's a compliance issue at this point or what, but I don't see a problem with it. The team is 3 weeks away from playing a football game but Brock could be 9 weeks away from seeing his first reps, and if our run game is going well I don't think he'll see many snaps in that game regardless.

It may not be Campbell’s choice if the players are currently ineligible.

If there's young guys that may be needed anyway, might as well prep like they'll be needed.

It feels like another rebuilding year so might as well get some guys in there.

Yeah I'm not sure they're even allowed to practice with the team. Someone will have to look it up, but this isn't like a regular suspension given out by the coaches.

I think this year is definitely a rebuilding year as we have a lot of new staff and such, however in the past, our rebuilding years have led to success and I'm optimistic that will happen this year as well.

J. Brock was rated higher than Hall when they both came in. He has always presented himself as a team guy with a positive attitude. So far his career reminds me of the highly rated running back from Waterloo back in the 70's who arrived with great expectations and then spiraled down hill and never got his opportunity. Whatever is going on, I hope he gets a chance to play at some point. It takes a lot of commitment over many years to get on the field at the D1 level and I hope his efforts are rewarded.

I'm not here to disagree with what you said, but I feel like him violating the NCAA policy on gambling numbs a little bit of this. When you're a D1 athlete, you're looked at under a microscope and yes, you're treated unfairly by lots of people. But he sort of made his own bed here.
