I think he's still recovering from the injury last season and I'm also wondering if there is a loophole in the new NCAA rules since they are worded as a percentage of the season and not games, maybe fall camp can count towards that. Doubtful but maybe

Well that'd certainly be interesting if that were a loophole lol

Feeling really good jumping on the under months ago as well as taking Iowa when they were GETTING 3.5 points.

What a weird thing to say as an ISU fan.. It's one thing to bet on each of those things, but to feel really good about it? Then come brag about it on the ISU fan forums?

Why do you feel good about the team winning less than 5 games & losing to our rival?

I'm not here to disagree with what you said, but I feel like him violating the NCAA policy on gambling numbs a little bit of this. When you're a D1 athlete, you're looked at under a microscope and yes, you're treated unfairly by lots of people. But he sort of made his own bed here.
I played college football as did my sons so I am prejudiced as I know what a long physical and mental grind it is. Luckily when I played cell phones and the internet did not exist or some of my transgressions would have not been to my benefit in today's environment. On line betting not involving ISU is not a big deal in my book. Betting on ISU athletics is really dumb if that is what is going on here. I will withhold judgement until the facts are public.

J. Brock was rated higher than Hall when they both came in. He has always presented himself as a team guy with a positive attitude. So far his career reminds me of the highly rated running back from Waterloo back in the 70's who arrived with great expectations and then spiraled down hill and never got his opportunity. Whatever is going on, I hope he gets a chance to play at some point. It takes a lot of commitment over many years to get on the field at the D1 level and I hope his efforts are rewarded.
Last year, he looked like that guy before getting injured.

He definitely hates ISU,
For the life of me I cannot figure why Farley would "hate" Iowa State.

Iowa State plays them nearly every year and gives them a pretty good chuck of change for doing so. Iowa does not. UNI's budget gets a big lift from this game. Not that I expect him to get down on his knees and kiss Pollard's ring or anything like that, but for him to HATE Iowa State seems bizarre

From my view, Farley has that "big frog in a small pond" attitude about him anyway.

Sorry to have derailed this thread a little.

I played collegiate athletics as well and I 100% agree that not having to have to deal with legalized gambling was a blessing, because I know I can't say for sure I wouldn't have done it. I like to think I would've gone at it a different way, but who knows. What I do know is that gambling policies are drilled into your brains by the compliance department. It's a huge deal and these players knew the risks they were taking, even if they only bet on sports outside of ISU or college athletics.

Gotta love the conditioned preseason negativity. Hope y'all. Every year is a new one.
Agree! It’s easy to get hung up on last years 4-8 record. But we were one of the top 10 youngest teams in the nation and we were one or two plays away from winning 5 - 6 of those losses and that was with us doing everything we could to lose in each of them.

I’m not saying we’re world beaters this year but I feel like we’re gonna be better than people think.

New staff, lots of experience coming back with great recruiting classes. Flying under the radar with a chip on their shoulders and a new sense of energy in the program. It’s a perfect storm for surprising people.

I'm not too worried about the running backs, sounds like the Stanford kid is a beast. I hope we have Brock for as much of the season as possible but the running back position is in a much better spot this season

Some people would rather win a bet than cheer for their team I guess.

Iowa's HC is still the same so I don't see them changing their basic offense from what has worked for him in his career which is conservative ball control, strong defense and a great punting game. I would guess the transfer Michigan QB will fit in that style offense or they would never have encouraged his transfer.
For Iowa's limited offense, which it is, they can still get the big TEs open. Last two years Petras was so bad he couldn't hit those open guys. All the new guy has to do is complete some of those passes and the offense is a lot better.
