This is true, but it was his first year, he could make tremendous improvement in the off season. Dekkers has the tools, but definitely needs to refine them. Kohl does not look like he will come in and run away with the job, but he may, you never know. I think they both have the tools to be very successful which is good. Stop judging everything compared to Purdy. Purdy was obviously better at scrambling, but both these two quarterbacks have a higher ceiling if they can find that it factor Purdy had.
The most important contributor to Purdy''s success in high school, college, and the pros is his "It Factor". He isn't the tallest, he doesn't have the strongest arm, and he isn't the fastest runner but he is one of the best -- at any level -- at making a decision and executing when encountering the unexpected. He is able to do that because he prepares extensively and, most importantly, leaves his ego out of his craft. He doesn't waste precious milliseconds thinking about how he looks or whose fault it is when something is going astray, he just processes the situation and reacts as fast as the best in the game do.

Everybody agrees that Brock is poised and confident; I think confidence is working with your abilities, not your ego, and that's what makes him so successful.

Yeah, I think fans need to temper their expectations with Kohl
Everyone wants to pretend that JJ is going to be SO much better than Hunter this fall.

Well, Hunter played in the same high school all star game the summer before his senior season, was touted by the scouts for his strong arm and accuracy—and had two years on campus before his first start. He wound up almost as highly ranked as JJ—unlike a Grant Rohach.

The only difference is, JJ is reporting early. I don’t believe Hunter did.

Give Hunter a better OL, and he’ll be much improved.

Let JJ redshirt unless he happens to come to campus and builds team chemistry insanely quick and beats out the other QB’s. Either way the competition between the three should help them all. Three four star QB’s in one room at Iowa State sounds pretty nice.

I do not agree these two have a higher ceiling than Purdy. They might be able to throw the ball farther. But, what you call scrambling , I call extending the play, finding a receiver on broken routes and effectively running. If these guys can show me they can do that, I will agree. I have not seen it from Dekkers, and am worried about Kohl. I statue of a QB is not going to be very effective at ISU.

But he has the potential to be slipperly!

Presently and futurely also, I think.

Haha. Unnerstood! :p And we're not the spelling police or anything. Hate those guys! :)
People don’t seem to realize that the “spelling police” are just trying to help out fellow Cyclones.

Like when someone says something like “would of”. Clearly they’ve heard it orally enough times, but don’t realize it’s simply “would’ve” (or should’ve, or could’ve)…a contraction of “would have”.

I realize that some people don’t read as much as I do to see proper spelling or grammar, so I try to help them out. It’s not a criticism. Just trying to have one another’s back.

When people say seen instead of saw. You don't want to be that person.

I was just kidding. I don't hate anybody (sometimes myself a little). For posting, and just being me, stupid. I'll get over it.

I agree. I think JJ is the heir apparent to Dekkers, and I think the class spacing is perfect timing.

You might not know what ceiling means.

This.

He was sabotaged by atrocious scheming and design, OL play, and no use of misdirection to speak of. Hopefully with Clanton, better design, and a better attitude Dekkers will play better and with more consistency. By 5-6 games in it looked like he was mentally quitting at times. I can understand why.

It would be great to be able to give Hunter the opportunity to excel and Kohl a redshirt year.

Kyle Kempt…..
I love Kyle.
Cyclone legend.
Go back and watch the Memphis bowl game he won. He would not have been what he was without Lazard and Butler. More great catches than great throws.
