Decided to call back about a 2nd interview. Sometimes you have to take a chance on something. I chicken out way too much on things.

They say you never know unless you try.

Great!

You never know...you might end up liking it a lot or finding something else within the company/store that's a good fit.

Also if you get it and find out you don't like it you can at least etch out a few months or so and make some money while you look for something better.

Yeah but alot more hours too and my mobility isn't the greatest anymore.
Your comment about mobility got me thinking. Is your concern regarding the additional hours relating to physical demands or time demands? I worked food service for many years in the past. In my experience it was hectic, stressful and physical demanding work with most of the hours being on your feet. Perhaps the position in delivery at the auto supply place will be more hours but it may be less physically demanding and stressful for you?

As my Gpa would always say "Good things happen to good people". Best of luck going forward.

Seems like a sound decision. A second interview will give you more information about what the job will be like. You can always say no after you learn more (and if they offer you the job).

That's a good point. Hoping this could be hours but much less stress and physical demand.

I'm not the best person to give job-search advice, but I think that's a good decision to do second interview in this case. Even if you have some hesitance, it doesn't hurt.

If it leads to a job offer and you still aren't comfortable with it, you have the option to pass.

Edit: @CycloneSpinning posted similar prior to my response. :)

Not exactly sure.

I would think the stress level would be lower (outside of the first two or so weeks of just a learning curve) than where you were. Would have a general route and probably not a lot of surprises.

Go in confident, get the job offer, and you determine if it’s right for you.

Keep the doors open, too. If you want, take the job but still seek a better job that suits your needs. At least you have income flowing while looking

Best scenario is having multiple job opportunities.

Good luck, Rulzzz. You got this

I am retiring at the end of the year and cope with this also. Between carreer adjustments I was a janitor/building superintendent for 9 months and loved it. You are exactly correct. I believe I have secured a PT retirement job as 3 days a week 4 hours each day as a janitor. No more thinking and I will know the job is completed, dont have to worry about my employees family issues keeping them from completing tasks, waiting for email responses, board decisions and meetings. My wife says I am better already, and she is very observant/intuitive about this. Or I where my attitude on my sleeve.
Same boat here. Retired from the Army after 26 years and it was hard to adjust. I went back to work for government contracting for a year. I just got sick of the stress and pressure of time lines, emails, work cell phone on the night stand so I quit. Then went to work as a life guard at the local gym. Best job I ever had. Did that for 5 years and finally retired completely. Now I work in my garage doing wood working.

Just get a job, any job and start doing your best. Then you can start looking around again. It seems to be easier to get a job when you have a job and you are less desperate. I did that when I was younger and ended up with a great job. When I had no job, getting a new job was brutal

Best of luck with the interview. Second round is a bit more interesting IMO. you get to find out a little more about what’s really going on in the organization.

In my experience (on both sides of the equation) the formality of the 1st job interview is one of the dumbest most pointless exercises in professional life. The predictable, predetermined Q&A tells me nothing about either the applicant or the company. Worse, a lot of skilled and competent people get screened out because they get tripped up by a question and get rattled.
