Okay, isn't this considered to be benefits above and beyond what other students receive? If you are going to have special dorms for basketball players what's to then keep teams from buying houses for their top players? I know that ISU will put players on a certain floor of a dorm, but to build them their own seems like it should step over a line somewhere.

I would bet money that those "other students" are the girlfriends of the basketball players.

Isn't this just the equivalent to ISU adding aanother floor to the basketball practice facility to put apartments for the players? Come to think of it, that wouldn't be that bad of an idea.

I questioned this as well. Found this on Yahoo:

Eight reasons opponents ought to be jealous of where Kentucky houses its basketball team | The Dagger: College Basketball Blog - Yahoo! Sports

Why would this be in compliance with NCAA rules when athletic dormitories typically are not allowed? Well, as Kentucky is careful to note, non-student athletes will also live in the building. NCAA rules indicate at least 50 percent of the residents of every wing or floor of a dorm have to be non-student-athletes for it to be permissible.
