Ok, it doesn’t matter now anyway. But to say it makes no sense? You believe what you want to believe I guess. I’ve followed this sport for a long time…unless there’s a major injury like a broken bone or something requiring surgery, you never see someone just flat out get shut down for the tournament. What you do see is uncertainty….out “indefinitely” or there’s a “possibility” he could come back if we make the S16 or FF. Maybe the player never makes it back, but you keep that chance that maybe the rehab works and maybe he’s well enough to give it a shot in a week.

That rumor may or may not be true, but it makes perfect sense.

If you believe in every conspiracy, everything makes perfect sense. I'm old enough to remember when Shane Power was transferring because he slept with Larry Eustachy's wife. I mean it makes total sense guys!

As for BYU... his offensive rating was 75.2 which is absolutely god awful.

I agree with all statements above, Nobody knows for sure, we are not part of the program. My heart hopes not true, Todays society and state of college athletics tells me this is a distinct possibility and I woudn't surprise me if true.

I just can't imagine a competitor like KG shutting down the NCAA tournament unless the injury is really bad. Not being at the tournament with his team makes me lean $$$ over injury.

Except that Chris Williams laid it out in detail for the Grill situation, even though he had “nothing to gain”. He has a track record of not covering up stuff like this. Agree?

Believe whatever crazy conspiracy theory you want. But when these crazy theories require 1) the player to be lying even though his play on the court CLEARLY shows he’s injured, 2) the head coach to be lying, 3) the head athletic trainer to be lying, 4) the top Cyclone insider to be lying even though he’s not lied in these situations before, 5) the leader of WeWill to be lying even though his business thrives on transparency, and 6) no other credible leaks within the program suggesting Keshon’s dad is blackmailing the program for more money.

Could your theory and this rumor be true? Of course it could be, just like my Big Earl’s rumor could be true. It says a lot about the individual to claim all 6 of the above are lying but random message board poster found the real answer. But there are entire communities out there than believe the earth is flat so to each their own.
I never said he wasn’t injured. He definitely is. And there’s a difference between lying and not telling the entire truth. Especially when the truth can can be way more detrimental than just saying nothing. I think that they just chose to say nothing and I don’t blame them. I’d do the same.

Just to jump in here in the sake of transparency, Keshon, nor anyone associated with Keshon, has approached me in any capacity involving more NIL. Keshon has sent me a text thanking me for sticking up for him on the podcast and that the crazy people online are making things hard on him. These guys do see this stuff. I'm not in the locker room every day, so I don't know 100 percent what the deal is, but Keshon is definitely going through a tough time with his injury and the online stuff certainly isn't helping. Let's win another one tomorrow. Appreciate you all.

Can you also let CW his tone and content of his pods has only fueled this bull ****. He lets R Peterson go on speculating Keshon is opting out like a bowl game with 0 push back. Absolute bull ****

But a brother-in-law close to the program says otherwise you liar!

Thanks for setting the record straight. This is a unique situation with Ke not traveling but not everything has to be some crazy conspiracy or full of drama, even though many people seem to want to make it so.

We should all thank Keshon for putting his heart into this program. It sucks he got hurt and ended this way and I’m sure there is more nuance to the situation. But I would almost 100% guarantee he’d give anything to be healthy and with the team. He’s been nothing but an awesome ambassador of Iowa State basketball and these baseless rumors are frankly embarrassing.

Not really sure what to believe but I wouldn’t be super shocked at the money rumor. Gilbert body language and attitude seemed to get worse as the season went on. No doubt he’s dealing with an injury but not being with the team is weird unless he had surgery or something.

Have you watched the games? If you are questioning if Keshon is actually hurt, I’m not sure what to tell you.

He's not playing, is obviously injured, and hasn't played well for a long time. The team has moved on and played well without him in the first round. Whatever else is going on doesnt really matter. The baseless speculation on a public forum doesn't do anybody any good so can't we just let it go?

The problem is CW (and I to a lesser extent) get accused of “protecting the program” when trying to talk down anything negative. It’s a fine line when people are emotional on each side.

There is a difference between protecting the program and allowing a guest on his podcast to go unchecked on a theory with no pushback. I get he respects Randy, but if that was untrue (which I’m inclined to believe), he should have said so unequivocally.

I can understand and appreciate that. But he’s a thought leader for the program. So, if he’s letting a guest speculate on things without push back, he’s giving credence to them.

If there’s something more to the story than he should verify and report it. Otherwise things spiral, as we can see here.

For the record, I thought you were the way more level-headed and reasonable one about the news on Monday’s pod

NIL does have a place in this conversation though

Would Gilbert be getting offered as much to return after this situation? And because of that, would the situation be as likely to occur if he had future funds to earn? Either from Iowa State or just the market?

Like Georges said in his FOS interview:

“I hope these kids are ready to be looked at as professionals,” Niang said. “If you don’t get the job done, I don’t have time to waste. You’re a good kid, but if you’re not producing at the rate that I’m compensating you, like, what are we doing? That’s kind of how the world works.”

Now, I’m sure Niang is making an exception here, but the sentiment will be there in these situations, and this ultimately isn’t good for trying to get investors

With the huge emphasis on the NCAA Tournament, players have leverage, and little to lose if they’re out of eligibility. I expect such situations to arise, as well as opt outs of more than just NCAA, unless there are financial consequences to doing so (decline in future earnings or pro rata payback).

Tucker DeVries is essentially doing this, choosing to shut things down to get another year of eligibility and $1 million more in compensation. We can pretend his injury was an inadvertent windfall, but I doubt WVU NIL donors would agree
