My only cringe was knowing we have to play Arkansas State again next year, and that they use it as bulletin board material. Not sure it would make a difference, but better to just play it cool. If I was Campbell, I would of kneeled.
If we lose to them next year it will have nothing to do with that TD. Plus from the interaction on the sidelines the Ark State coach clearly gave the vibe that no offense was taken.

In the history of sports, I can't think of an instance where calls of "running up the score" have historically hurt a program. Even being a consistent winner can be seen as a negative, but you know it is not.

Fry did something similar in 1997 game. He then told Mac that the quarterback audibled to it or some chicken-sh** excuse. Mac took the high ground on it but he knew that Fry was full of sh**.
Fry’s all-timer was against Sam Wyche and Indiana.

Called timeout with like 10 seconds left and scored another TD because the NFL “wanted tape” on the 5th string QB.

He was clearly pissed they scored again and looked like he apologized in their post-game coach handshake. My guess is his anger is at Mouse, if anyone.

I am not dumbing you. I am dumbing the situation. We've had the score run up on us plenty so when we get the chance we should be doing too.

Plus if your defense sucks so bad they can't stop a freshman walk on RB that's on them.

I agree. I just hate giving anyone anything to use against us.

Now we are worried about a garbage team next year, We can give them all the bulletin board material they can handle and they still won't beat us.

Because we have never lost to a garbage FBS team on the road...

Like I said, I generally agree, I just would have taken a knee knowing we play these guys next year. Just me.

It isn't like they scored on a double reverse, receiver throw back to the half back type of play.

I remember Jim Walden being angry at Fry when Iowa scored on some kind of trick pass play with 30 seconds left in the game and Iowa up 50-something to 10 or something like that.

That was a bush league play by Fry.

Flora's run was just a simple run play and he made a good move to score. You can't tell a kid not to score.

I doubt anyone was angry at that.
Hayden Fry was the consummate Asshat. A real douche through and through.

Arkansas State should’ve stopped them from scoring but they couldn’t

I much prefer to send reserves out there and they play their hardest…not just going through the motions to close out a game. That run showed more about who this kid is than he could show in many other situations.

If CMC seriously had an issue with Flora on that play…. that’s BS…. and that’s bad on CMC. Cannot be upset with Flora at all on that.

These guys get up at 4 AM in the dead of winter to put the same work in as everyone else; they deserve the opportunity for those 30 seconds to celebrate in the end zone.

Weren't ark states starting defense still playing? Not like they're going to tackle him gently if he decides to intentionally not score

Don't disagree. At the same time, I respect his motive within the context of an in-state rivalry. He wanted to obliterate ISU's relevance in this state. And to his credit, he was about as close to succeeding as you could reasonably get. ISU fans were an endangered species at the height of his tenure. Fortunately, Mac and JP did a lot to save the fanbase.

Two years ago, my 7th graders were up 50 - 8 on a team. We called a simple run up the gut with our fourth-string running back. He busted an 80-yard TD run when time expired. We did not expect that or want it to happen. We took a knee on the extra point.

Our kids were pissed we didn't try and score 60. The other team's coach knew we didn't do it on purpose.

But it was pretty funny
