No surprise. Look at what the other teams are doing with their head coaches.

I'd say him, Fran or Huggins right now but there are a lot of guys out there at this point. Pitino, Kennedy, Larinaga and Wright have all done good jobs.

Hard to argue with Kruger or Billy Kennedy.

I like how Larry Brown gets an honorable mention while his team is on post-season probation.

Kruger would have my vote.

I'm guessing Self and Izzo are on that list because he forgot to take them off form the past 10 years. Both programs have under performed thus far. IMO

Why Kruger and not Prohm? I mean OU was picked higher than IsU pre season and ranked higher to start. I'd say if anyone deserves it thus far Prohm should be right up there. Did OU lose a key starter to the season and leader of the team? No. And season ain't over yet.

I have nothing but respect for Lon. Look at where that team was when he took over. It doesn't matter where he goes he finds a way to make the team better.

Coach of the year? It seems like it was just yesterday but I remember taking world regional geography with Lonnie back in 1970.

OU is higher than ISU currently. If someone knocks off KU from winning the league their coach will likely win the B12COTY.

Nationally, I'd give it to Kruger or Fran.

Seriously Fran should be the front runner. A team picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the B1G - now #3 in the country.

Also Billy Kennedy.

Kruger had a pre-season top 5 team - loaded with seniors, this is what should have been expected.

Testifying
If these teams can reasonably hold it together, here's my list:
Fran
Kruger
Chris Mack (Extremely under rated coach IMO. He could have Xavier in the Sweet 16 for the 4th time in his 7 years.)

I'd have to agree. Lon Kruger is a great coach. Mad Fran deserves it more.

Iowa fans, don't say we aren't nice to you. I agree Fran has a really strong case. Look at the lineups for the other teams we are discussing and then Iowa's. He is doing a great job. He takes a lot of heat because of his own heat-hot temper- but he has done a very nice job in Iowa City.

Did I miss something? Like February, March and April?

Season ain't over yet. No point in crowning a king yet.

Right now Fran and Lon are at the top of my list. Be interesting to see how it plays out the rest of the year.

I understand rivalry, but come on, Iowa has some outstanding college players. That one dude laid 30 on ISU in the first half.
